HA, HA,HA, You really make me laugh. Nom De Plume asked why we are not doing the same as Jersey? Are we behind? The answer is yes! Quite simple! Jersey has been in lockdown all this year. At least we had February off for good behaviour. Jersey has administered 68K jabs to our 60K. On a per capita basis, it puts us slightly ahead. However, they are slightly ahead on second jabs. Now our weakness. Banker, remember you are not yet vaccinated. You are only part so. If we had stuck to the manufacturers recommendation, in a couple of weeks you would be done. Now you have to wait until June. Most of the rest of the world is sticking to recommendations.

So both of the Channel Islands can allow travel from 26th April with isolation based on cases so many will only require negative arrival test, UK cases are plummeting and you want everyone here to stay locked down and allow no travel without 3 tests & 14 days isolation with no family allowed.

Also Jersey have not been in lockdown all year and neither have Guernsey so stop peddling lies.

FFS negative & scared people like you are going to drag this Island backwards, work in cabinet office do you??

The whole "there's no evidence of blood clots with the 2nd dose" I would have thought that the vast majority of AZ jabs were first doses at the moment? So whilst it's likely to be a true statement, would suggest it's slightly misleading....

He didn't seem to understand that point did he?

Revised exit plan due for next Tynwald, 3a on target for end of April with testing/isolating requirements being discussed at Comin next week is what Howard said today

3A is a waste of time. It's just a red herring to make us feel there has been progress. It's not even a baby step. You loved ones can travel over and isolate in one of howies holiday cottages for 3 weeks then come and see you. It's not even close to reality. Up the revolution.

What monumental fuck to had happened....before Easter the kids teachers said they would be in school on 12th April if nothing changed.....nothing changed if anything things got better but schools are not going back until 19th?? So please someone anyone explain in what or how this changed and what took us off the path?  Is it the unions again or people too scared to make any blinking decisions...or was it schools didn’t shout enough like construction so the government didn’t crumble

Howie also indicated non essential shops could reopen next week but instead changed that to just hardware & building merchants so B& Q etc, it’s just ridiculous and shows the negative brigade are holding sway still

@Banker  @Nom de plume

Jersey and Guernsey have significant tourism industries (approaching 10% of national income IIRC). The IOM does not. Only the bikes here - and those are cancelled anyhow.

Would you not both agree that this is, at least, a reason why the Channel Islands would likely feel the need to try to move faster?

There is nothing which stops anyone living here from travelling. Not even for business. Provided that you work from home and not the office when you get back. Post virus we are all going to be working from home much more anyhow. That's a permanent shift given that so many companies have found that people often work much better like this. Work from anywhere is the roadmap now.

More important here on the island, much more important, is getting the trades back to work.

They have done 5 million second doses in the UK. A high proportion of those will be AZ so certainly 2 or 3 million doses given. You would expect that would be enough to pick up some cases if there were any, once you are looking for them

Not really though. We would have done more second doses but fewer first doses. Lots of people who have had their first dose would still be waiting for that

It's not just work from home though is it. You cant leave the house. You cant even go shopping. It's not an option. It's just another way of stopping travel.....thinly disguised.

All I am doing is stating facts. We are behind the Channel Islands. Here are a couple more facts. MERA has been extended by a month until the end of May. Next Monday, a few more shops will be allowed to open. Now here is the  biggy.... apparently, everything else's is going back to normal a week later in Monday 19th. That is not a baby step. Do you believe it? I don't.

No, I don't work for the cabinet office. No, I don't want to be in lockdown. Like you, I am part vaccinated. I look forward to my next one in June.

With regard to tourism in Jersey and Guernsey, it may only be 10% of GDP, but about 30%  of employment.
