In case you'd forgotten, they actually knocked off early a couple of weeks ago in the rush to get away.

We’re in the middle of the worst recession the world has ever seen & the Island is about to enter, the school exam grades are all over the chippy & Douglas still looks like Beirut harbour. They’ll be back soon when it all passes over.

Probably gone abroad as key workers they will be exempt from quarantine
winnie
Yesterday's results All figures from Gov.uk Total tests processed 14,825,051 Tested Negative based on tests processed} 14504765 Tested positive 320,286 Tested positive (% based on tests processed) 1.16%2.18% Total Deaths revised metric based on max 28 days 41,380 (11 ) Mortality of tests processed 0.28% (0.29%) Mortality of those tested positive 12.92% (12.96%) Mortality of UK population 0.061% (0.061%) Totals for the last 24 Hrs Total tests processed 150,174 tested positive 1,089 Total deaths 11 The average deaths in the uk have really dropped to a very low level. 11 deaths in one day is the same rate as one death on the IOM in 10 weeks!!!! Yes, the infection rate looks fairly high, but less than 700 are in hospital at the moment being treated, which is the equivalent of less than one person on the IOM. Perhaps the virus has got weaker? Open the borders and test all people coming in. Isolate for 4 days, re-test and providing it's clear i think it's fairly safe to crack on with normal life.
piebaps
Howard has already clearly indicated that the next border review would be at the end of August. "At today's meeting of Council of Ministers it was agreed that Government would work on building capability and capacity in order to potentially introduce a seven day self-isolation and testing regime. I must stress that any date for introducing the change will be dependent upon infection rates in the UK and other jurisdictions. It is currently proposed that this will be further reviewed at the end of August. " https://covid19.gov.im/news-releases-statements/chief-ministers-statement-on-covid-19-30-july-2020/ I appreciate it doesn't suit your narrative here but he can't be any clearer. 1

Of course things could be brought forward should Guernsey move quicker. They moved to 7 day’s on the 17th Aug as I recall so may even go to entry testing & follow up sooner than planned. It's the total lack of any plan other than we may copy Guernsey but his best buddy Gavin has moved quickly and 17/08 changed rules as start to reducing quarantine to 24/48 hours next . meanwhile Jersey are doing well https://jerseyeveningpost.com/news/2020/08/19/trade-picks-up-for-hospitality-industry/

You keep on saying this with absolutely no evidence. As Non de plume says Guernsey has only just introduced on Monday the testing on Day 7 (after trialling it in early July). After waiting six weeks to make sure they get things right, they are hardly likely to abandon everything to switch to a new system and they have said as much - even in stuff you've quoted yourself. Well where’s the updated plan then? Guernsey gave 2 weeks notice they were bringing forward changes to border policy. think Howie & co we’re caught on the hop
