Double checking the facts would help. What allegedly happened was a highly unusual occurrence, to accept what he was told without question seems a tad irresponsible.

As far as I can tell Ashford seems to have come up wit this 'information' entirely from his own garbled memory.  But you'd hope, given the importance of the subject, that he would spend the time since Thursday checking the facts and also finding out just how rare these events are so he could explain it in detail and reassure the public.

With such a high percentage of false positives with the LFT method, it makes you wonder whether the manufacturers had inadvertently created a test for antibodies!

I think the main issue is false negatives and this is more dangerous. I don't believe there is an issue with the test itself, its the swabbing. It relies on the person getting the swab (sample) properly. If you don't insert it fully you won't pick up any virus particles

Not sure he even accepted what he was told, he interpreted it incorrectly.  He 'convoluted' two matters and came to his own conclusion.

If he had said to someone;

'Oh, so a death of someone after vax and anaphylaxis?'.

'No, Minister, there was a death after vax, but we do not know the cause of death or if there were underlying health problems, so we can't link vax to death at the moment.  There was also a case of anaphylaxis, but they recovered.'

'Oh, that's sad for the person who died. From a vax safety perspective nothing yet to be worried about, but we will keep the matter under review?'

'That's right, Minister.'

How easy!

On MR DA has explained how he 'convoluted ' (think he meant conflated) two cases resulting in his incorrect statement to Keys.  No hint of embarrassment, regret or contrition.  That's what worries me; he shows nothing other than absolute belief in his statements, even when they are wrong and proved embarrassing and potentially damaging too!

And the stupid bugger did indeed mean ‘conflated’. Making himself sound like a stupid bugger by saying ‘convoluted...’ although in fairness that’s the perfect word for pretty well all IOMG communication.

How do you know he didn't question it?

Well, he said he convoluted two cases.

He also goes on to say that because he said in Keys that we should be careful before we jump to any conclusions about the vax, basically, what he said was right!

Neither do Channel Islands, you stated they had many direct flights to Europe, you were asked where to & couldn’t answer as usual!!

During normal times, we have flights to certain holiday destination, but other than the uk, the only other scheduled destination is Dublin. I cannot speak for Guernsey having never lived there. However, Jersey regular scheduled flights to Paris, Cherbourg, Dinard, Geneva and Frankfurt. Additionally, in the summer they have scheduled flights to Lisbon, Funchal and Dublin. This is on top of the usual holiday flights as we have. Those are the ones I know of.

This is going to be unbearable for some in these parts.

They’ve only just finished glossing the skirting boards in their bunkers & having their masks surgically stitched on.
