A very forward thinking & intelligent approach to the complexity of the issue.

The Jersey Government certainly seem to be handling this situation very well & their updates welcomed by their public.

When was our last Govt briefing? 30th July?

What plans have we been putting in place? That’s right - grass up next door.

Gosh! You really do not listen, do you? Go back a few pages and educate yourself!

Completely agree. Ended up talking to a very furtive chap today at the Tin Bath Races getting back into his illegally parked UK registered car. Was asking what the best route back out to Peel was as the roads were busy. Clearly hadn’t a clue where he was going and didn’t really want to open up about why he clearly had no clue where he was going or how long he’d been here. There’s absolutely loads more cars on UK and foreign plates here than usual. But the borders are closed so we’re all safe. No need to check up on them either as they’re all smashing law abiding Manx residents. Hallelujah!!

Another person who does not listen!

At the last briefing, When Howie opened the borders for Manx residents, he opened them to people who wanted to move to Iom. Since then, there has been a boom in house sales, gazumping, all sorts. But you just don't listen!

Fine. But there are medical restrictions on movements that should be being observed for the protection of the greater population. Are they?

IoM has previous in prostrating itself to money.

No I do listen. Apparently the “borders are closed“ if you listen to every covid idiot within earshot. That’s our USP apparently. It makes us “safe” allegedly. But no I agree with you the reality is anyone with a tenuous connection with the IOM can come here. And have come here. But they have to sign a piece of paper promising to be good people. And then nobody checks up on them at all. About 30% might get a phone call asking them to confirm that they’re lovely law abiding people. Which they do. Until some nosey neighbour proves that they aren’t. This is apparently better than actually testing them to see if they actually have covid and actually present a risk to anyone. But I’m glad we agree. Loads of people are in fact coming here, many in UK registered cars, and none of them are being checked by anyone as 60% of IOM residents still believe the borders are closed and the reality is that few official checks are performed and the system relies on one of those 60% shopping someone out of fear.

Cunning ruse by Skelly to save our economy....

Not Skelly but that story keeps the idiots happy and stops them asking questions (and keeps them on high alert for reporting people). Meanwhile I think most sensible people are asking why aren’t we just testing people and doing track and trace and admitting our borders are open (which basically they are) and just getting on with getting back to normal and not pandering to paranoid dicks who want to continue living under a stone (on benefits).

But they are closed, in reality. 600 a week. Instead of 2000+ per day in normal times. Less than 100 a day. 5% of normal. It’s a trickle, not a flood. There are 21 inward sailings a week and 28 inward flights. Average is 12 per sailing/flight, including key workers, patient transfers, compassionate grounds, returning residents.

I’m talking about one way traffic who aren't normal IOM residents. A significant number of normal statistics are Island residents and their families moving back and forth on and off Island (and business travelers) which with 14 days self isolation clearly they can’t currently do (if they are honest people, as nobody is going to check). But we should at least admit that our borders are far from “closed” as we could then have a proper debate about border issues and testing. Rather than closing it all out by saying “the border is closed” jog on. Nothing to see here.

Sorry John, but the borders are open to all but incoming tourists, provided you have a legitimate reason to come here and you isolate for 14 days.

We do seem to agree.

Those poor buggers relocating here literally dream of 14 days isolation. People here seem to have forgotten queuing outside shops, and 2 metres. That is still the norm in many places, if you are lucky!
