Firstly, you have no idea what the rest of the world is doing.   The data available suggests the Isle of Man is well along with vaccinations if you were formulating a league table.

Also, if ever there was a reason not to be hysterical (which is what you are being) about a break you've outlined it.

You sound just like PK , who’s not been posting since you have😀

I beg to differ.

Two weeks ago on Andrew Marr fall guy Hancock was re-iterating "get your second jab" ASAFP.

He didn't actually say why but it's become apparent it was because of the Indian Variant.

The various Covid vaccines have only been approved because the bar was set at 50% efficacy for no other reason than the situation was so grim 50% was better than nothing. Unfortunately against "Delta" (don't ask) on a first dose you only get 33% efficacy with Pfizer and AZ. So the race is on to get as many folks protected against Delta as they can which means everyone needs two jabs.

Bearing in mind that because of this the UK have reduced the time between jabs from 12 weeks to 8 weeks it makes a fortnight hiatus look bloody stupid....

UK will take a look at our vaccine holiday and realise we're not using what they're delivering. They'll redirect them.

They're literally trying to vaccinate anyone and everyone who can have a vaccine.

I don't think they will, but your point is good. They bloody well ought to and get them used.

Infection rates seem to be levelling off in Bolton.

Let's hope the rest of the hotspots do over the next 13 days.

Who cares?

What about hospital admissions and deaths?  They are still lower than they were when restrictions eased.

The vaccinations have already worked in making cases in the community a non issue and will continue to improve things from here forward.

If the clowns here and in the UK just cracked on vaccinating, stopped reporting cases, opened up the Manx borders and left us to it for a few months until the rest of the world caught up there would be no need for the general population to discuss or think about COVID again other than attending booster jab appointments when asked to.

If it disappeared off the news and restrictions went today people wouldn't notice.

People in the UK aren't arsed anymore.  Most I am speaking to either know they have already had it or believe they have anyway.

I think you'll find that the "clowns" in the UK are cracking on at places like Twickenham. Because cases really surged in the hotspots which has threatened the general relaxation due on the 21st June. God forbid that happens. And if folks in the UK aren't arsed any more how do you explain this?

"Thousands of young people queued for vaccines at Twickenham Stadium on bank holiday Monday after a pop-up vaccination centre broke with national rules to offer jabs to anyoneover the age of eighteen!

"The callout led thousands of young people from London and beyond to drop their plans and race to the stadium, with hours-long queues forming on the hottest day of the year so far before gates were closed off to new arrivals."

So they're all wrong and you're right...?

Fair enough.

We are being led by idiots that can’t plan anything to go right, literally anything.

Many of us here have been saying this for decades, in general, and for the past 14 months, specifically.  And yet 'they' are still there making (literally) life and death decisions without the training or expereince needed.  It's not only here, of course.  Cummings painted a picture of total chaos and a Downing Street full of headless chickens.

In almost every walk of life we rely on experts be they lawyers, doctors, plumbers or electricians.  And yet when it comes to those who, for a brief period of time, have complete control over our lives, we 'elect' these amateur former no-bodies who rise from total obscurity to, for example, Chief Minister!  It has been proven the world-over, the majority are incapable of organising the proverbial in a brewery.

Well if they're managed to get large numbers of people from the groups most likely to spread Covid crammed together on the hottest day of the year and lots of them don't even get jabbed, I'd say their vaccination strategy looks sub-optimal.

I can actually see why they are resorting to this because vaccination levels are lower in London than any other region, no doubt due to a highly mobile population.  But there are probably better more local ways to get people in these age groups vaccinated.  As ever with England at the moment being seen to do things seems to be more important that actually achieving it.

The UK has reported zero daily coronavirus-related deaths for the first time since the pandemic began.

Also, 3,165 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the latest 24-hour period, according to government data.

The latest figures come after a bank holiday weekend when the number of deaths and cases can be lower due to reporting lags.
