asitis
Looks like going to Porto wasn't a good idea for the football, seems lots of positives and people in quarantine again.

As long as deaths & hospitalization stay low then the case numbers at existing levels shouldn’t be a problem. We could also consider making certain areas amber/red like Channel Islands whereby arrivals from there have to isolate/ have tests

I agree that hospitalisation and deaths are significant measures, sadly a rise in infections at the rate we are seeing will end up with an inevitable rise in the deaths. Very bad news and not looking good IMO 2 1
The Old Git
I’d imagine they’re being cautious after being bit big style last year when they tried to open up tourism. All the calls from the public to be more like Guernsey / Isle of Man

If we're going to 'be cautious' forever then we may as well just finish the human race off now as no one is ever going to be able to do anything ever again. 2

They aren't relevant anymore (never were) Cases were and still are an indication of what the hospital intake would be in a couple of weeks in the UK. The problem in the UK atm is that the group's getting COVID now either haven't been vaccinated or only partially in the last few weeks which means there will sadly be an increase in hospitalisations. The problem on our Island is that most of us are only partially vaccinated with AZ which has a very low efficacy against the Indian variant on first dose. More data will no doubt emerge in from the UK about this over three next few weeks. We may see that efficacy figure on first dose revised down or hopefully upwards.
