Whilst I'd love to agree with you that's not quite right. I agree that hospitalisation and deaths are significant measures, sadly a rise in infections at the rate we are seeing will end up with an inevitable rise in the deaths.

Very bad news and not looking good IMO

But it hasn't so far, the cases have been rising for weeks and deaths/hospitalisation hasn't.

Face facts the vaccine is working the most at risk have been vaccinated. Its time to move away from cases and focus on what this was all about, not having the nhs overwhelmed. Which will happen due to the backlog that there is

Teachers leaving because of borders issues, it’s not just them I’m aware of hospital & care workers leaving as well.

Has been the case across all sectors for over a year.

Just lots on here refuse to believe it.

I would guess more have left than those who have come because we were "COVID free"

We did get the Irish journalist who wanted borders closed as soon as she arrived 😂

They probably miss staying in a French Gite for 6 weeks in the summer.

It's a tough break but someone's got to do it....

6 weeks of accommodation in France is of course well known for being affordable on a teacher's salary.

Until 1st July.

Two weeks after my second jab. Have a day trip to Liverpool booked on the 2nd

We are quite close to every adult being double vaccinated. Which does make a month or so more of relative caution appear to be a good idea. If we were a year away from the vaccine programme being finished I would argue in favour of less restrictions, because we can't afford another year of this. But perhaps the £400m loan could get us to the end of the vaccination programme.

I was just looking at the uk figures for the last 7 days.

Number of positive tests up 34.7%

Number of Covid deaths down 14.8%

Number of hospitalisations up 17.1%

Number of tests conducted down 17.3%

So not only are cases shooting up, they have done a lot less testing.

Don't think that's true...plus the weeks it takes to kick in.

We’ve stopped for nearly 3 weeks so lots over 50 & 60 awaiting second doses, mines 18/06 & I know others 8July.

meanwhile Jersey cracking on!

of Sunday 30 May, 70% of adults have had the first dose.

90% of islanders over the age of 50 and those in at-risk groups hare fully vaccinated.

More than half of 45 to 49-year-olds have had their second dose, along with 34% of 40 to 44-year-olds.

Shooting up - comedy gold.

Still less than when restrictions eased
