He is right though.

If they put the end of June back and use the lack of vaccinations as a reason, after 2 weeks of doing nothing while the rest of Britain have ramped things up, would we as a population not be right to be absolutely disgusted?  Especially those in hospitality and tourism l?

But repeating it ad nauseam, every day, sometimes several times a day, just makes banker look an even bigger tit than they actually are. The decision was made, lots of us think it’s wrong.

The fact remains, we’re well ahead of the 95% of jurisdictions elsewhere in the world.

And open borders was always going to depend on UK rates and UK restrictions.

The system is.

1. the UK don’t have everything they’ve ordered delivered and in warehouses. It comes through from the manufacturers weekly and in differing amounts.

2. There is then an allocation, pro rata, per head, to England and each of the devolved nations, and the Crown Dependencies and the Overseas Territories.

3. The health authorities in the various jurisdictions then decide what to draw down, when and arrange transport.

4. They can leave stock in store in UK if they don’t want it immediately or don’t have storage.  It’s not lost, they can draw from the allocation later.

5. Gibraltar was a special case as 20,000 Spanish resident workers stream over the border to work, every day. They are everything from financial services, nurses, cleaners, etc. Spain was slow off the starting grid vaccination wise.

Now, why we didn’t fill the last fortnight with brought forward second doses or first doses is a peculiarly Manx thing. The justifications don’t hold water. I suspect they’ve just held off drawing down to avoid accusations of huge stockpiles and a cockup. At least we start again on Monday and the rest of 18+ who want to register for vaccination are now being invited.

One of the reasons first timers may not have been slotted in is because they’re mainly under 40 and going to get pfizer or moderna rather than Astra Zeneca. We aren’t told what the mix of stock held is.

Good summary. I should mention Gibraltar is a green travel zone and Spain an amber travel zone, but Spain is a green travel zone from Gibraltar with no land border (Spain) mandatory test control in or out. Only the airport has mandatory testing.

Where are you getting your info from for 1, 3 & 4?

It’s all public.

1. Do you remember the stories about supply issues in late February and March, when pfizer closed down part of its manufacturing to increase capacity. Was covered here at the time. None of pfizer, moderna or AZ were contracted to fulfil the whole order at once.

2. The info about allocation and draw down came from several articles about 4 weeks ago which referenced and explained how Wales had got ahead in the vaccine in arms race.

3. ditto. And comparing CI numbers. They’ve had steady supply over the last fortnight. We’ve had 3000.

Lets see what arrives next week.

Sorry, we all know only your opinion counts as you constantly demonstrate, it’s a forum!!

Little wonder there are concerns about the Delta variant.

Data from Public Health England confirms there have been 42 deaths so far in England with the Delta variant. Of this number, 23 were unvaccinated, seven were more than 21 days after their first dose of vaccine, and 12 were more than 14 days after their second dose.

Put in simple percentages - 55% unvaccinated, 28% 1 jab, 17% 2 jabs.

Thinking vaccination makes you invulnerable is clearly not a good idea...

Wonder how long it will take to catch up every other jurisdictions which just cracked on instead of having 2 weeks holidays?

UK 55% fully vaccinated, Guernsey 52% , Jersey 93% of over 55 & 82% of 50-54

Sorry banker, uk fully vaccinated is about 40% of population, about 60% with at least one dose. We are at about 30% fully vaccinated, about 55% with at least one dose.

When it comes to herd immunity, you have to count the whole population, not just adults.

And those that have natural immunity? Where do they fit in?

I understand it perfectly well thanks. Do you?

Let me please draw your attention to the percentage distribution of the vaccinated fatalities versus the unvaccinated fatalities which stands at 45% to 55%.

That's an awful lot lower than the vaccine efficacy rates would suggest it should be.

As you’ve been told numerous times nobody uses total population it’s all over 16s

Are you advocating Covid  vaccinations for babies now?
