Any sign of the results that might give us an indication of what particular strain we're dealing with here now? They will have results by now I suspect. Probably waiting until Boris cancels and use the genomic results to sh*t on us all at next Thursday's inevitable press brief.

AlanShimmin
Looks like the unelected EAG bureaucrats are going to put the skids on June 18th. Shameful

What is the point in a 2 week delay.

This way, we'll keep our numbers down while still going about our business as far as possible and, if the UK doesn't go the way it went at the beginning of the year (when Boris gave them all Christmas (and Covid), then we can open up in a month. The water between us is an insurance policy and frankly, the most important thing is to curtail the spread. In a month we'll have a scutch more vaccinations done, and we'll be better prepared all round. This way too, we'll hopefully avoid another lockdown should things go tits up here too - and, a well used phrase, learn to live with it. There are more locals around than ever. Every bar, cafe, coffee shop, attraction, beach has been full of locals. Money is getting spent. We're in a good position. I know the border thing is a hard one to swallow but truly, I don't think we have any choice. Yes, I see your point, but I would have liked to see something about genomics, here on island, so we can quickly monitor incoming variants. Also, if the UK isn't going tonopen up until July, isn't there are argument to ease travel to/from the UK for those with double jabs? In other words, align ourselves in a progressive way with the UK?

Not because I welcomed the advice, but that finally we are in the hands of professionals who not only know what should be done, but also how to do it. In unambiguous language. Clear, concise and comprehensive. I have to say, I was really impressed around their suggestions. They're upfront about the fact that CoMin should be more transparent. Equally, I'm booked on the boat for the beginning of July as many are, but already, I'm expecting to be cancelling/delaying the trip by at least a month at the rate things are going. And frankly, for personal reasons, about that I am absolutely devastated. Like many, I've not seen close family across since March of 2020.

By the time they come to the 19th of July there will be another variant. Then it will be another month then it will be sacrifice autumn to save Christmas. Rinse and repeat. Take the chance while you have it. 1
