Lots of places are well ahead of us now. I understand it should "only be a few more weeks" but I really do think we were in a perfect position in December having been COVID free for months and with vaccines in the pipeline to really do something spectacular and put the island on the map. We were in pretty much a unique worldwide position with easily controlled borders, no local restrictions, and a tap into one of the best vaccine supplies in the world. What did we do? Two more avoidable lockdowns and now falling behind other places that have implemented their vaccine rollouts more quickly and flexibly than we did. Is the Manx way, and as long as the majority of the population don't appear to be arsed it will never change. Rather than critical thinking, we reward and congratulate those in charge and sweep their mistakes under the carpet. This summer, from Mis May could have seen us fully open and without masks etc having used the time to finish the prom and plan some really positive events for people utilising artists and comedians etc from the UK desperate to get back on stage. The island could have been rammed. I still cant even go to Liverpool for a day trip and come back without isolating and being tested, and no sign of that changing before the end of July now.
Gladys
Some whingeing on MR this morning about how these new arrangements discriminate against those who have not had jabs. So, what do we do, hold off on this step so no-one is discriminated against? The anti-vaxxers need to get a grip and understand it is their own choice not have the vax, so they alone put themselves into that position. With regards to those who can't have the jab for medical reasons, feel some sympathy but the test and isolate arrangements aren't too arduous, are they?

As my neighbour observed to me over the garden fence last night, ‘Get jabbed or STFU’.
Lilly
So glad l had both jabs, had to fly urgently to UK a few days ago with not much prior warning, although streets were noticeably empty

Which makes us one a very few places insisting on tests for young children. Not big on compassion on the IOM. Just hold that 2 year old down while a masked person leans through the car window and shoves this up their nose for no obvious or discernible benefit. Under 5s are exempted from any testing or isolation, if you read the documents put up to Tynwald. 1
