Multiple Corona cases on island within 24 hours, people who didn't have both vaccines told to stay home / protect themselves. Shops bring social distancing back after it spreads. Knee jerk reaction to quarantining on arrival again. Sounds likely? Any other scenarios you can see taking place? That won’t happen unless we see rising hospital cases because they’ve gone past the holding hand stage, it’s upto the public to perceive risk and act appropriately, mask wearing/social distancing in shops would still be sensible, if the UK are doing it and we’ve a open border it seems a bit odd not to.

Does anyone actually trust them to handle this? They say they're past the stage of "hand holding", but they also said we wouldn't have vaccine passports. They also said stay away from healthcare environments 10 days after arriving back (HQ). We already know Quayle is shitting it. They're BS their way along as usual. It will come back to bite just as it did in January and March. Hopefully this time the vaccine will mean less serious illness. They won’t change anything unless the shit absolutely hits the fan, by which point the UK will be in a similar position, I do think masks/social distancing on public transport and in food retail shops would be a good idea, as these can’t be avoided by people who are unvaccinated and more likely to be hospitalised. I still see the odd person wearing a mask now but it seems a bit daft and unfair to say those who feel at risk should wear a mask when they aren’t the ones who are likely to be spreading it in the first place. No, it's their right to wear a mask if they wish - not impose their fears and trepidations onto the rest of us to uphold a completely abnormal behavior. COVID will be endemic, like flu and the common cold; we must accept that. Those who don't or won't - keep the face-nappies and stay under the duvet. This whole appeasement mentality is the result of this almost irreversible brainwashing that has gone on over the past 15 months.

If it’s only food retail and public transport it shouldn’t really be an issue for most people, lockdowns are by far the most damaging to wellbeing/health, the economy and should be avoided at all costs. If you don’t want to wear a mask then just say your exempt, it’s not exactly difficult. Edited to add : Why are we still expected to wear masks in hospital settings if there is no benefit or no risk? Nom de plume
It’s all very easy. We reopen the borders as planned. If you’re still shitting yourself, stay at home & live off Just Eat. 1
trmpton
Can we organise a boycott of the new places that stirred up a load of panic on Social media last night by reporting the 3 cases. Just ignore it now, it’s done. Congratulations to Gef, Energy and IOM newspapers. 3FM and Manx Radio can do one with their fear spreading.

But to be fair to them I think they have realised its the only way forward and it can't wait for ever. We could get a mini outbreak as our 2+2 number is still some way down on the UK (due to out 2 week sojourn) but we are closing the gap. Hopefully we (and they) can hold there nerve for a few weeks. Dunroamin
Good old Howie! So he made the staff carry out an assessment of risk at Hospice so he could go publicity seeking? Really? Still broke the rules Howie… https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/mhk-questions-cms-judgement-after-hospice-visit/

He was questioned about his judgement. He rang ahead, he wore a mask.........but if he really thought about it he failed to use his judgement. Now he is blaming Manx Radio and behaving like a small child.
