yep go to keep the doom coming, Boris and the Tories want the UK population in a constant state of panic and distracted so the propaganda machine swings into action

Norovirus won't kill you, and tends to run a fairly quick course.

It's just very unpleasant to have your candle burning at both ends, at once, in a projectile fashion, for most of the night.

Because they insist on triaging callers rather than just booking them in for a test. It seems to be a way to keep the testing numbers down.

I think part of the problem is that they don't have the testing capacity.  They made a big thing about it going to 800 in Summer 2020, but it seems to have stopped there.  I know Rachel Glover said that she set things so they could do double that, but I've never seen it, so they must never have exercised that option or increased capacity in other ways as every other country seems to have.

The whole ethos seems to be that it's the job of the epidemic to adapt to suit the civil service working procedures rather than the other way round.

I thought the 1600 was by doubling the number of cycles. Working 24/7? So staffing rather than equipment.

You are not permitted to travel if you have a positive test within the last 10 days. Otherwise ok.

Correct. You are not permitted to leave the property. I thought that goes without saying but fair enough

Unless you are old and vulnerable.  Then it can definitely kill you same as anything else can if you are old and vulnerable.

You sure as hell wouldn’t want it running through a nursing home full of old and vulnerable people.  Same as any other virus really.

Possibly, but it's highly automated (or at least it ought to be) so you don't really need that many extra people.  But my point was more that they have done nothing to expand capacity in the last year, the fact that Rachel was able to sort something out last year fairly easily suggests there may be a variety of ways to expand.

The staffing problems are actually more on the swabbing and clerical sides - the extra people you need to answer the various 111 calls, check details and send e-mails and so on.  But it's not specialised stuff and you'd thing they would have back-up people trained within the civil service or on the Bank.  A lot of these ought to be things that people can do from home (though I don't think any are).

Never mind the testing. . That seems to the least of the problems. Get some staff answering phones to speed the process up . Feel so sorry for piebaps and his daughter . He needs some compensation for what hes had to put up with.

Crikey. Its pieman not @piebaps. Piebaps isn't often mistaken for an Englishman visiting the island.😃
