Personally I think it's great that they are having a go at trying things, but it most certainly is not as rosy as some would like to make out

Depends if you want freedom of choice to travel and you want economy to start improving like Jersey have & Guernsey will have in October

You’re right but then again without wishing to be too unkind the coffins are generally piling up in shithole countries where disease (any disease) always runs rife. Places like India and Brazil where poverty is widespread and people in cities live in top of each other and basic services are poor.

Actually I had in mind New York and various cities in Italy. And BArcelona etc. Do a [Covid Coffins] search

But I see your point.

Italy is not dissimilar to be honest for standards of hygiene and people living on top of each other, and New York? Sorry if you don’t have private medical cover in the US you’re dead. Nobody gives a shit about you. If you can’t afford to buy yourself well you’re fucked. That’s why the numbers are so high. If you go in to a hospital with Covid they won’t even sell you an aspirin if you can’t afford to pay for it never mind hook you up to a ventilator.

Travel where and for what?

One of the main problems with the traffic light scheme is that stuff changes all the time. Every single day this country is moving to red or that to amber or whatever. On the face of it it seems like a good idea, but the realities are it is crazy. And now in Jersey they're talking of doing it for regions of the UK, so come back from Glasgow and quarantine for 14 days or Lincoln and do 7 with a test. It's making things complicated, overly so.

I still struggle to understand what exactly you are referring to about the economy, if you can't see that things are moving along here relatively well considering all that has happened then I can't help you.

If you can’t see that the Iom economy is struggling and unemployment will increase greatly over the next 2/3 months then I can’t help you either

I'm open to hear why exactly. I'm not involved in banking it egaming or anything like that so there is a lot i don't know about our economy, but what is the problem? Where is struggling, why, and who are about to get made redundant? You've been posting economic doom for months, and I don't get it. It isn't my experience. See if you can help me, I'd like to understand.

Ok explain why unemployment is at such high levels, why hotels are shut and why all forecasts are for increasing unemployment once the state stop the support. Just because you have a few buildings jobs on doesn’t mean the economy is booming.

For as long as you seem to have been posting bonkers crap about death and destruction. Do you actually work if you don’t understand how parts of the local employment market work?

I'm honestly baffled by there still being relatively high unemployment, there seem to be plenty of jobs around. I have NO idea why anyone would still be claiming MERA and think the salary support scheme has been a disgrace. Hotels is fairly obvious, although I've heard from people wanting to do the staycation thing that it's been quite hard finding anywhere decent cos they're all booked. I'd quite like to read one of these forecasts if you have a link?

I've already pointed out to you that the level of unemployment isn't particularly high by historic standards.  On several occasions, each time with links.  And you've simply ignored this and gone back to repeating the same stuff that simply isn't true.

You're not really interested in facts are you?  You're not really interested in reality.  You want everyone else in the world to behave in a way that makes you feel good, irrespective of their interests or what is actually happening or the laws of nature.  And what makes you feel good seems to be feeling permanently annoyed at everything and permanently feeling hard-done-to - even if you're not really sure about what.

Yeah, that hasn't happened. Just keep making shit up, seeing as you've got fuck all based in reality to say.

No that seems to be the main theme and trajectory for this forum. Making shit up and spreading fear. If they had any sense they’d start marketing Manx Forums branded underpants considering the number of people openly shitting themselves about covid on this forum and who seem to want to ensure that everyone else ultimately shits themselves about covid too. I would imagine they’d be really popular. Sitting in your special MF undies bashing your keyboard about keeping the borders closed every day when you’re not working.

Isn't that a tad disingenuous when the population has risen by over 30% in just 50 years?
