IOM Covid removing restrictions

Almost laughable, a whole neighbouring Island running this ‘pilot’ scheme and here is Boris pretending he’s part of a new scheme that’s not been trialed yet.

They've done another u-turn on that and now Boris and Co are isolating.

That isn’t a straight forward question to answer, you may be right, you may be wrong. So say short term you’re right, but long term these otherwise would be healthy teenagers struggle with long covid, what happens then? Well the truthful answer is you don’t know and that’s because nobody knows because there isn’t enough research out there yet.

What’s happening here is the IOM government has decided to take a massive gamble, seemingly an uneducated gamble because we were the first country (certainly in Europe) to make these changes and relax covid restrictions.

Well someone has put the idea into HRH Quayle and Ashford's heads (they haven't plucked it out of thin air) and I don't believe it was home grown - given the non appearance of Dr Ewart and known reluctance of other Govt medic(s).  Given it mirrors the trial Bojo was going to do then it sort of provides the answer.  Furthermore, they will have a good 4 weeks data on how it progressed her in a population with broadly the same vaccination rates.  Someone said at the time  it was their conspiracy theory, maybe it is not that far off.

Yes he had to if he is asking half a million and counting to isollate.

Are you taking the piss? Every single restriction that’s being lifted in England tomorrow has already been lifted here, some 3-4 weeks previously.

How does that correlate with “we are the first country (certainly in Europe)”?

It doesn’t.

Places have done away with masks and distancing.  Places have done away with requirements for isolation for double jabbed.

As for isolation of close contacts, Andy one who believes more than a handful of other places have been personally phoning people and telling them they must legally isolate because they were close to someone is deluded.

I doubt there is a country in the world beyond here and the CI who outside of lockdowns have had so many confined to their home’s.

I have just spent all morning in the cancer causing sun eating cancer causing bacon.  I am about to jump on my organ doners transport of choice for a blast before heading to the pub to drink some liquid liver destroyer in more bright sunshine.

Everyone of those things could cause me harm today, or in the long term.

By not worrying about those possibilities and enjoying the weather and some time with mates I get benefits which I believe outweigh the risks.

Verstappen Cavendish double at the bookies as well.  Probably risking addiction and ending up homeless.

Have a sunny Sunday.

In the UK it is surely conservative political doctrine, heavily influenced by pressure for pandemic 'recovery' by retail and property sectors?

Here it's just Howie & Ashie aping their heroes in Downing Street

Where are the statements by Chief Medical & Public Health officers funded by the taxpayer? Why aren't Tynwald members pressing for them?

Nowhere else has stopped all social distancing/mask wearing, allowed double jabbed in with no restrictions/testing/isolation or relaxed close contact isolation/testing requirements all these measures combined, how aren’t we the first?

False equivalence.

Your helmet, leathers, back protector and even airbags will conspire to keep you safe. Never mind that modern bikes have traction control, lean-sensitive ABS and more. Even a 20 year old sports bike will be well-beyond the limits of the average rider in terms of capability. Plus, modern tyres are absolute magic.

Overcooking it into a bend isn't going to make other people you've seen recently start overcooking it and coming off too.

Nor will you be oozing bacon as you're walking about, likely to be making other people eat bacon.

You immune system, vaccine, overall protection levels in the community will conspire to keep you  safe.  Never mind that the Islands health services and sanitation levels are way ahead of most of the rest of the world and what they were 20 years ago etc etc.

You greatly underestimate the power of bacon.

In the UK 10,000-30,000 people die of flu. Every year. In spite of a tried and tested vaccination system that targets the most vulnerable. Most of these are elderly and have co-morbidities - so, presumably, have been vaccinated. Thats 30-80 people every day of the year. The NHS is routinely overwhelmed by seasonal fluctuations and never seems to have planned for it. Post viral syndrome is also familiar and hits many young people. We probably just don't notice in the older population since we "expect" them to suffer worse health overall. We have no idea how many "cases" of flu may be around at any time because we don't test for them and take no particular precaustions to stop the spread. In fact the "blitz spirit" is encouraged and isolation not generally recommended.

Will we treat covid in this way? Will we be allowed to?

In the UK 125,000 died with/of covid; rarely do the deaths with/of flu get up to 30,000.

Covid is overwhelming the NHS in the way flu never has.

Flu surveillance takes place globally and has done for years.

Israel has been a great real world example for reopening. Now it seems they're on the verge of another lockdown

Those that have been vaccinated in Israel were vaccinated with pfizer which is quite effective against the delta variant; most people on the Island were vaccinated with AZ which is not. This is not going to go the way CoMin think it is.
