Surely taking responsibility for your own health involves applying the rules which we were given at the outset? Social distancing, masks where appropriate, hand gels, making your own decisions on how much you want to risk socialising?

Everyone wants guidance, how much do you need?

The trouble Max is that wearing a mask/ face covering does not protect the wearer, it more protects the people they come in close contact with.

I have masks that do protect me as I am in a specialised part of industry and have access to FPP3 gear (Clinically shown to reduce infection with medical professionals) and the very best type of filtration gear, but most do not.

That is why masks/ face coverings should have been made the "Mitigation policy" not "common sense" or "responsibility" for ones fellow humans.

Humans by nature are selfish, most look out for themselves so given the choice, as we have seen all over this island since the end of our "Lockdown 3 " about no one wears a mask/ covering.

Hopefully someone pulls up the cowardly Mr Watterson.

He knows he's going to lose the Presidential Election tomorrow (I know that sounds ludicrous) and this is some sort of bizarre, last throw of the dice, to fuck things up for CoMin.

It’s a very poor judgement and leadership on show from the Speaker of the house. Tynwald hiding behind a Zoom screen while they’re telling everyone else to go about their business.

But it's not Tynwald of Watterson who is telling us to go about our business it's the government.  (Except when it's  not).  And it's legally difficult for him as well because if individual Tynwald Members have been told to isolate, then they refusing to let them partake could be seen as interfering with the running of Tynwald.  The problem is that they all have to be present or they all have to participate remotely.

The only reason Members would be told to isolate now is if they are positive. That then is a different story.

FFP3 stuff isn’t exactly niche. Even Lloyds pharmacy sell it now. Never mind you can buy it by the bucketload at places like Screwfix.

Even a £23 FFP3 reusable respirator will let me fit test it by pressing on the filters.

There is also more evidence now that puts forth that even fabric masks do afford a level of protection to the wearer. Albeit significantly less than an FFP2 or better. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/15459624.2021.1925124
