Not u-turning every 5 minutes depending on the lates populist headline. Yesterday was ridiculously named 'Freedom Day' but some people now have egg on their faces. By the way - Infection Control is what it is all about isn't it? Managing Infections in and out of hospital is a specialist area that requires more expertise on show than we have at the moment. But in a small community like on the island you have to give yourself the bandwidth to change policy easily. Why wouldn't you? We shouldn't involve ourselves with the pantomine across the water, we have our own situation to contend with. I'd say our elected representatives and senior civil servants are battle weary, as we all are to a certain extent, from the past 18 months. There will be infighting and differences of opinion about how we move forwards. It's not surprising things don't look as slick as the stately press conferences we had last year. Not only they appear to be incapable of making the right decisions, what is even more galling is that their personal insecurities/egos seem to be preventing them from taking advice from those who are capable and competent. The ‘Dr Glover fiasco’ seems to be a blueprint for how this beleaguered government deals with tough issues (they appointed EAG and evidently took no notice of their opinions). They opened up the borders and then they hide themselves behind Zoom, whilst the rest of us are meant to be living with (lower) risks associated with Covid…, but it does not seem to be low enough for them personally. That said, I suspect ultimately it is our collective responsibility as voters for electing the wrong politicians. Hope we, the GMP, will do a better job next time. We can only do a better job if there are better candidates put forward.

Roger Mexico
New positive cases = 2325 - 2114 = 211 Increase in active cases = 1104 - 893 = 211 (There almost certainly will be some nominally recovered cases as there were single figure new ones 14 days ago but no one seems competent to do the calculations). Dave Hedgehog
You just know that rather than some massive conspiracy it is just that the one person in Gov who knows how to properly update Power BI is on holiday for a fortnight
Annoymouse
Things seem to be progressing nicely, are we meeting our projected forecasts yet? I’d like to see what plans they have in place and what the trigger points are.

(They must be so relieved to have stopped the daily press conferences)

I agree to some extent. HQ said this morning that we will have to wait to see what they say about us giving children the vaccination. Don't forget, the UK controls the supply.😱

The form should be dynamically updating the fields.....it's only excel with a fancy image on the front

Similar was said in Tynwald today, they didn’t consult with EAG as they felt they didn’t have time!? yet they’ve had months to prepare? Surely they don’t expect anyone to believe they’ve gone from an elimination to mitigation strategy without any prior predictions/forecasts/plans in place first?

That hospital metric is a really bizarre one to use. By the time the hospital is full where are the rest of infected going to go? The rate the UK are seeing is 16 per 1000 new cases (or they were in June). Massively down from the peak of 80 per 1000 in January. But given we're heading rapidly for 2000 cases by the end of the week it is a big concern.

That being said thanks to the introduction of the LFT's it seems a lot of asymptomatic cases are being picked up.
