It's true they probably had no clue but the instructions and advice were coming from PHE backed up by Ministry of Justice. And as if to confirm that they sent two helicopters over with logistics experts to reinforce who was going to be running the show if it all went south.

Yes, what was the point of that visit?

It's going to it be fine, we were always going to get a little explosion of cases, it'll settle down soon enough.

The gov advice should be really simple: stay outside as much as you can, ventilate very well when you can't, get vaccinated. That's it.

"a little explosion of cases"

Yea right, watch this space in 3 weeks.

Post made for reference

The reason for the question was to ask how many times his modelling had been correct!

with almost every expert having a different opinion about what covid is going to do next and what steps to take at least one of them will be correct eventually.

Because, to quote Peep Show, “You can’t trust people.  People like coldplay and voted for the Nazis”

So government should act.  In my view, there should be mandatory mask usage, while prevalence is so high, in places people, particularly if vulnerable, can’t avoid.  Especially if these are public services.  So that’s buses, the hospitals, GP surgeries, government offices etc.  Essential food shops and pharmacies similarly, and I’d expect local managers to implement in their stores. Nobody has to go to pubs, clubs, restaurants so go at your own risk, but even some of those will ask for some mask usage.

You and I might be sensible and do the right thing, but people in general can’t be trusted.

So why are you lot of medically qualified Professionals not making your point more strongly to our totally un-qualified local politicians who generally get voted in on the back of their granny farming ability and reduction of dog sh1t*

* Not usually a bad thing because they only have to make decisions on planning and tree felling- (Cut a tree down to stop a dog pissing/ sh1tting up it)

Not like they normally  have life altering decisions to make, they are really grossly unable to make informed rational, well advised decisions.

We should of handed over control at that point, we would not have been any worse off and now we would not be an experiment in seeing what happens if you let it just rip through a generally elderly population.

100% the new relaxation rules were drafted by PHE and probably without much input from our DPH.

Yes, but what were they here for?  What info did they get and how is it to be used?  I suspect I know the answer.

Most likely nothing of note but unlike our lot the UK gov and their agents, the military and the like, go through worst case scenarios and planning of events that "may " happen. i.e. They PLAN ahead.

Our gov sound surprised when a local phone line is overwhelmed and they then  run out of tests that they advised people to take.

Answers on the back of a postcard to who knows which government is incompetent of making rational, educated, non political* decisions

*Which despite the rhetoric make more sense for the economy than not making good decisions.

If we had asked for help at the start we may be able to use UK intelligence in their civil service which we lack generally speaking on island, to forecast the outcome of a total open up without any

 "Mitigation"
