IOM Covid removing restrictions

'Manx Care' sounds like some company started up and doing medical stuff, rather than the Isle of Man National Health Service

We can maybe cope with the change of name but we can hardly expect the world to adjust to such a name change so quickly.

Plus, the word 'Manx' has the letter X in it. So what, you may say. Well, the world and indeed the internet generally, certainly in its early days, would automatically see the word 'manx' as spam. Some may remember this problems with a manx.net email address in t'olden days.

What's in a name?

Whoever suggested the name 'Manx Care' needs their arse kicked.

Interestingly the Travel to Malta advice on the Maltese Government's own site is quite comprehensive:

The recognised vaccine certificates include:
  -The Official Maltese vaccination certificate
-The EU Digital COVID vaccination certificate, issued by EU, EEA and non-EU countries connected to the EUDCC  gateway
-The United Kingdom NHS (paper or digital) Coronavirus (COVID-19) Vaccination Certificate
[...]  -The Gibraltar, Jersey and Guernsey  vaccination certificate

There's something missing from that last line isn't there?  It would be interesting to find out why they all got the deal and the Isle of Man didn't.  Especially as there had already been problems identified with entry to Malta from the Island.

The automatic assumption that because Channel Islanders are allowed in to Malta, Manx people should be too is just that, an assumption. One that should not be relied on.

There's no gambling. It's a binary question and answer:

Is the certificate printed by Manx Care / IOMG explicitly valid in the jurisdiction that the traveller seeks to enter ?

I'd really like to know which countries have explicitly stated they will accept the Manx Care / IOMG piece of paper.  Do Manx Care / IOMG have a list?

Are there any countries that have agreed to accept it?

Well Malta have apparently agreed to accept the Channel Islands pieces of paper

2 hours ago, Roger Mexico said:

All countries tend to be fairly legalistic about who they let in.  The problem here is that vaccination certificates are accepted as valid from other places in similar situation to us, but somehow not the Isle of Man.

That suggests the problem lies with the Isle of Man not Malta.

The Manx vaccination certificates and PCR test results are issued on badly formatted Word files which can be edited.

Who in their right mind would accept those?

How many countries have the IOM contacted and said "will you accept our piece of paper?" Which ones?

It's not apparently. It's fact.

Other than failing to state something obvious what is the point you are trying to make ?

I'd like to know

There is an approved WHO and EU standard both for the QR code and the paper certificate pass.

For paper it includes a security watermark and a barcode.

The biometric info to be contained in the QR or barcode is also set out.

Simple question, do IoMG letters comply? If not, why not?

Absolutely correct. Your description is bang on. I think MC was suggested by Jonathan Michael. Tynwald was foolish in the extreme to accept it.

No they don't. Not even close to complying with any international standards. The PCR certificate isn't even formatted to a single page. Maybe that's why they made it editable... 😔

Adding "Manx" to a name usually includes a significant price rise see Manx gas and telecom for examples.

It’s a letter printed off the computer with scanned automatic signatures.

I have just listened to Ashford giving another daily waffle to the Nations Propaganda Mouthpiece, saying there is no timescale, we won’t be prioritised, etc, etc, etc. Absolutely spineless, no backbone to fight for island residents or interests. However, if the argument relates to financial matters, money laundering or another register then watch the likes of Ashford roll over for the tummy tickle and compliance. I accept the situation, even though it’s not ideal, but I expect our elected politicos to have some steely mettle, vigour and fight for the islands interests and residents.

They should go the full hog and just called it BallaCare, or even BallaCare4U. Like Ballakebabs or Balla Brokers etc.

Anyway, there is a thread already on this subject, but no oine seems to consider the matter of the name. It is not a side issue, it does matter, a lot.

A fairly pointless article by our local Granada bloke.

Says twice that borders are fully open and anyone can visit.  When did they sneak that in because I have friends in UK who want to come and some people we were going to bring over for work but thought we still could t unless 2 plus 2 or immediate family/property owners?

A strange Courier headline stating that a nurse was intimidated by a pair of c.20yr olds outside Kinrade's Pharmacy? These young men in T shirts and shorts, accused her of taking all the lateral flow tests, leaving none for them?

This is totally unacceptable but it certainly sounds strange in that we are now at the level that young men are so wound up by the virus that they would intimidate a nurse in uniform at a pharmacy? I could believe it if the pharmacy had run out of Methadone but LFTs???

National and international media have fuelled this complete over reaction in the whole situation. Blowing this whole pandemic completely out of proportion to the point of accosting nurses for dubious test kits and watching old people miss out on the latter years of their life hiding behind the sofa. The damage done to society throughout this has been catastrophic in a whole number of ways. All totally unnecessary.

Shocking and if I understood Manx Radio this morning on their news they said the test area at the grandstand has a constant Police presence to deal with abusive clients? I mean WTF?
