IOM Covid removing restrictions

I have some overseas travel booked for October to a country currently on the Amber list.

Checking the https://covid19.gov.im/travel/travel-to-the-isle-of-man/ site, I see that Pathway 1 (basically double-jabbed people) now says:-

Residents and non-residents are eligible for this pathway if:

  • They have completed the full course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine (two doses of either Pfizer BioNTech; Oxford/AstraZeneca; or Moderna or one dose of Johnson and Johnson)
  • On arrival, at least two weeks has passed since the full course was administered
  • They have not been to any countries on the red travel list in the 10 days before arrival to the Isle of Man
  • They do not have COVID-19 or any symptoms of COVID-19

From my perspective, and anyone else travelling to Green or Amber countries, this is good news, but was this announced anywhere, or did the IOMG just slip this change in without telling anyone?

Was well publicised at the time.

Ffs.

With what possible justification?

Well if you'd bothered to click the link you'd have seen this justification from the government.

Government says the reasons the current measures will stay in place, for now, are to allow more people to get their second vaccine dose and 16-17 year olds to have their first.

Whether you agree with it is up to you...

Yeah I read it.  That’s not a justification.

A justification would be if we had a much lower infection rate than the UK and weren’t already allowing people who are infected travel back and forth and they wanted to keep the rate low until kids had been vaccinated.

They can’t justify not letting people travel here without two jabs even if they are happy to test and isolate when they are letting others freely come and go.  It’s ludicrous

Covering their backs until new CM and Council of Ministers is in place after election.

This is more likely it. Nothing contentious that could jeopardise the gravy train. Keep it nice and stable, satisfy the illiterates on Facebook and keep staycations going for the rest of the summer holidays.

They are all networking, scheming and crossing their fingers that they don't get the Health Minister role for the winter. No-one wants that poisoned chalice.
