Unions got to justify their existence somehow!

Am I the only one who totally switches off when that dreadful shouty Irish woman comes on the Radio, to wheel out the teachers' latest gripe? If they want to be listened to, they need to get a different spokesperson.

You can tell school is about to start again teachers have started moaning, seemingly forgetting the rest of the population has been going to work and getting on with it for months

That's no problem - we'll send the 30 unvaccinated teenagers round to your office instead.

To be fair to the teachers they can only assess and criticise what the arrangements are once the schools are actually back and they see what is (or isn't) in place.

Well the teachers & staff are either fully vaccinated or anti vaxxers in which case they should be fully protected or don’t believe in virus

Give it a rest. Kids aren't little walking biohazards and this type of comment, in jest or not, doesn't help as it just reaffirms to the loonies that the insane ramblings in their heads and on Facebook is justified.

2 inset days happening today and tomorrow.

The worst thing about the schools going back is going to be the noise from those parents and grandparents convinced that the pandemic remains the end times.

There looking for more money & less work as usual & stuff the front line health workers who work 2/3 times harder for less pay & substantially less holidays

Do you have a grudge against teachers because you failed to learn the difference between their, there, and they're?

Not particularly but they seem to think they’re the most entitled group on the Island & not  bothered about anyone else as long as they get more money!!

Theres more deserving cases than teachers particularly those who spent most of lockdown on beach or cycling, lazy shower

Except of course vaccination doesn't mean you are "fully protected".  If you look at the bar chart for cases of Covid in the most recently published figures[1] which analysed 279 cases, 32% were in under-20s, so they are clearly more likely to be infected (only one was partly vaccinated, none fully).

But of the remainder only 24% were unvaccinated, with 8% having had one jab and the rest both.  So there's a lot of vaccinated people getting infected.  Of course vaccination does provide some protection from catching it - the percentage unvaccinated in those age groups is well under 24% - and it provides a lot of protection against serious illness and hospitalisation (though 7 of the 8 in hospital at the time were fully vaccinated).  But it's not infallible and teachers with their high level of contact with high risk groups are wise to be cautious.

[1] I've had to work out the figures from the chart, but it won't be far out

Cases continue to drop only 16 new cases today plus none in ICU, do you think there’s less circulating or symptoms are so minimal people have stopped taking tests?

https://www.three.fm/news/isle-of-man-news/nobody-in-icu-with-covid-19/

Nobody is remotely arsed.

Except school teachers & the work shy of which there are plenty.
