It would be greatly appreciated if you could support us in this by reminding your children and explaining the need to keep everyone as safe as possible. Whether it's 10% increase in infectivity (if that is right) is enough to give it enough traction to displace delta remains to be seen. However a 10% change, while not great, is unlikely to be catastrophic compared to delta, providing it does not create more clinical illness. For anyone interested (probably none of you) after this announcement on Monday my daughter reports that only a handful of kids are wearing masks although all the teachers now are which makes hearing what they re saying very difficult.
