IOM Covid removing restrictions

Boris has just announced a national emergency, work from home if possible and a huge ramp up of jabs, with all adults to be jabbed within the month.

Silence from Alf and the gang? Would think they would at least suggest working from home.

If it was really a national emergency you would have thought Boris would also have suggested that you don't go to parties, nightclubs, pubs etc.

It seems more like a way to change the headlines away from the rule breaking in No.10 last year and his lying about it when found out.

What’s the point?  Who reduces any risk by working from home?

A few office workers who realistically can take precautions anyway and who never really get very close to others at work but would still be going to 1886 at the weekend.

Those who are at risk at work are by nature those who work in confined spaces with others.  Think kitchen staff, plumbers sharing vans, etc etc.  Those people can’t work from home.

All that would come from office workers staying home would be reduced productivity and a hit for the places around town who do lunches, child minders etc.

Its another one of those things that sounds like a solution but when thought about logically makes no difference.

Our weekly rate is just over 800 per 100,000. The highest English regional rate, south east, in the 600’s,

Our wave is different. And Nobles hasn't been over run.

Whats right for England isn’t necessarily right for IoM

Every little helps, surely?

Aye, but balanced against the economic downsides.

Sensible reminders about lfts and a bit of common sense distancing at work would probably be a better solution than just letting people who aren’t very likely to be contributing to the spread to go home and take even more money out of the economy by doing all their Christmas shopping on Amazon.  Especially if they are still going to the pub/panto/gym/sports clubs/choir practice/swinging

Ok. If you take a quick and simple look at the UK stats, in April /May last year, there were literally very few cases compared to the current figures. However, there was a massive spike in deaths. In January this year, they had a massive spike in cases and also deaths. Possibly their worst time. However, since the relaxing of measures at the beginning of the summer, deaths have been very low, even though positive cases have been high. Almost as high as the January figures, but deaths very low.

Omicron, moronic, omigod, whatever you want to call it is another excuse.

Get vaccinated. Get your booster and crack on with life before it leaves you behind!

If your employees can’t effectively work from home by now, they’re probably not as good as you think they are.

If you knew what my line of work was, you would realise how onicronic that post is.
