It’s a bit rubbish - agreed I think there will be a load of families in the same position

I just hope both kids keep testing negative so they can enjoy themselves - I’d be happy to sit and scratch for 10 days

Bad one mate , hope you all can still enjoy yourselves and it doesnt spoil your xmas .

Summer 2020 was actually nuts. There was people playing drums, setting off fireworks and people with saucepans.

All while the politicians laughed as they knew the healthcare workers wouldn't get a pay rise.

My business is just about to go down the toilet after the trade I’ve lost this Xmas (which I was hoping would make up for what I lost earlier in the year) will Jason be coming out to clap for me when I’m in Markwell House mid January? These people are morons.

Pretty much said the same on a thread I've just started. Once again small businesses being thrown under a bus. Annoyingly, when support was switched off for most small businesses, hotels and tourism kept on being supported. Shows just where MHK's have their interests eh!!

The amount of support provided for the tourism industry was massively disproportionate to it's contribution to the economy in terms of real GDP.

I’m sick of it. And sick of trying to get MHKs to listen. They’re selling us down the river and I can see another two week lockdown in the UK after Christmas now (as pressure to do the same here to) so basically I’m fucked and I don’t see anyone clapping for me. Paid taxes for thirty years? For what? To be fucked over by people on government salaries who haven’t lost a penny since all of this started. But spending £70 million on a landing stage is fine and dandy and nobody is even allowed the option to publicly complain about it.

No offence, but you really are a whining fuck.

Is there anything positive in your head that you might like to share with us once in a while?

I was merely pointing out that the ‘CM’ went to London with 2 Flunkies - to hold his hand - and a photograph was taken, of our ‘CM’ next to Michael Gove, no social distancing or masks worn. Bearing in mind politicians in Westminster have been heavily criticised (and rightly so) for not setting an example to others as regards to Mask wearing. It’s a shame our ‘CM’ couldn’t have set an example.

As the current Conservative Government is being pilloried and investigated for potential lockdown breaches and illegal gatherings, I wonder if there has been any illegal gatherings or lockdown partying in the Wedding Cake, or Government Offices last Christmas?

I feel for you, and all other businesses impacted and hope your worst fears aren't realised, I really do.

But what do you mean by not being allowed to publicly complain?  You are complaining here, and have written to your MHK (who is also mine and I share the same view of him).  You could write to the papers, would they not publish your complaint?

There is a substantial and majority view that Liverpool is one massive up cock that will cost us eye-watering amounts and that there needs to be scrutiny and accountability.

I am not sure what else you want to be allowed to do or what form of redress you want.  Not because I don't have sympathy, but just cannot see what is being denied to you.

Outside/Off Island Independent Auditors? Carried out upon completion of the project. Granted it would be expensive, but the next suggestion would be an independent judge led public inquiry.

I joined here just to vent because I’m getting depressed about getting nowhere through legitimate channels. Nobody wants to know. It’s like we’re an embarrassment now to government. It’s like we don’t exist as nobody wants to confront the uncomfortable truth about what they have done. I wish I could sweep £70 million of total failure under the carpet and move on smiling. The only good advice I’ve received so far is in relation to the government backed Covid load I had to take out last year. So hopefully I can close in such a way that they end up picking up the tab on that it’s basically their fault I had to borrow the money in the first place. I’m done with it all now and they can fund the next few years on my life through the benefits system.

Very sorry, wish you all the best.

All I can say is try to find a MHK, not necessarily your own, with a listening ear and who is prepared to be a pain in the arse until you have answers.

Wannenburgh is good but he’s only just in. Ashford is simply a robot. I’ve been struggling with the ethics of it but if government can drop £70 million of cost on us I’m more than happy to follow advice now so I can fold the company with no assets and leave the £25K of Covid loan on them to sort out. I’m done. We’ve been conned.

You need professional advice.  If the company is insolvent now, you are in a tricky situation if you start removing assets.

There is indeed an unacceptable state of affairs evolving here (and in the UK), as some businesses, once again, have to bear the economic brunt of the pandemic through no fault of their own. The messages that have been trickling down from government(s) are confusing. People are not sure if, for the sake of ‘common good’, it is best to limit socialising, or for the good of the economy to continue socialising with precautionary measures such as face covering.

However, I do think you can still do something about your predicament, albeit your political influence has probably considerably diminished because the General Election has been decided. It is not clear from your posts which line of business you are in, but certainly the Local Victuallers Association has been pretty vocal in their calls for some further support from the IOMG. I am with them on this one.

The government engaged PWC to produce a report for them. This was produced and the government have just ignored every suggestion. This is what we are up against. Faceless and spineless civil servants who haven't suffered one bit dictating what support should be given.
