Her PhD makes her no more qualified to make that comment than anyone else. Her PhD is irrelevant in that context, and I was responding to Alpha-Acid's dismissal of the critical poster. I was a supporter of Dr G, but in respect of her specialist knowledge and expertise and how she was treated by the last administration. Outside of that, her opinion is no more authoritative than anyone else's. I see. Maybe I missed the point. In what way does she claim her opinion is any more authoritative than anyone else's? Or is someone else claiming that on her behalf?

Everyone I know who has tested positive recently is either completely symptom free or a slight sniffle for a day or so. No conspiracy theory, but I personally know of more people taking a day off post booster than have needed to stay home because they were actually to ill to work. Seems encouraging that it looks very mild We have an omicron positive in our house. He is a bit under the weather but not seriously ill. We thought it was a cold but then did the old LFT. I must say I find the LFTs very reliable and give 100% repeatable results so far in our household trial.

Saying that, many of us have become sort of experts on coronavirology over the last 20 months and now are at a stage where we are starting to have a fundamental understanding which is probably as close as makes no difference to the actual experts view in terms of what we should do next. A lot of us have made ourselves familiar via a crash course in the subject over the past 18 months. By reading, listening and learning from experts around the world who have studied and worked within this field all their lives. Standing on the shoulders of giants shouldn't be anything to be ashamed of. Which is why many feel comfortable questioning the likes of Dr G. Never has so much quality information been made available to the masses, via a plethora of medium. Nom de plume
I think it's a bit of a shame the way the 'Dr. Rachel Glover story' panned out. Her initial foray into the world of social media was to applauded. Much information and concise knowledge was shared on the ins and outs of virology and sequencing - it was refreshing and interesting. As time went by and the pandemic developed she became (has become) a bit of a whining siren, often throwing Twitter hissy fits & generally struggling to deal with challengers of her opinion. David Ashford played her like a fiddle. To many she is yesterdays soggy chip wrappers. A clever lady no doubt but she needs some social media training. hissingsid
To her credit she throws a great pity party…..even outdone calamity Kates 🤣. To my mind she was a very enthusiastic, knowledgeable person who threw herself into the work she led. Not a team player she over estimated her importance to the Government team who were of course very important 😏 she thought she was entitled to have input in decisions being made which was not welcomed. Her input may have been valid and useful, we will never know. Social media is not a good place to vent your spleen and respect is often lost, she may feel short changed and that is understandable.

She did and still does over-estimate her own importance in this whole pandemic. Agreed she came to the party when everything was all over the place and her input and contacts were valuable at the time. After that she, for some reason, assumed she would stay within the political decision making process which was completely above her pay grade, expertise and relevance. Even now she is still using her social media platform to point out to politicians what they should and shouldn't be doing, which is completely irrational and egotistical behaviour. If I have an issue I want raised within the political arena I will go via my MHK privately, not post it across Facebook hoping they take some notice.
