Yes. They suggested I take nasal swabs as in the instructions and that if those were clear I was good to go.

I have stayed home for a week anyway as a precaution, during which time I have seen more evidence that for omicron a throat swab is more likely to show an early and accurate result.

You are pushing the boundaries of science.

Wrighty, your ''get on with it'' attitude relies heavily on hindsight, it turns out that Omnicron is mild but you didn't know that, iit could have been a killer, it could have been a killer of our children, the next variant could be so but you persist in your attitude of getting on with it.

Really, you're not much better, with your qualifications, than a covid denier, if you spread your attitude, you are part of the problem???

You're hilarious.

The evidence was already there in South Africa to support the view that Omicron was milder.

Yet you and others rolled out the age old 'we have to wait and see, we have to wait and see'.

It was just the alarmist scientists looking to get their faces on the telly that trotted out the 'worst variant ever' spiel.

Only from one side of the argument.

No.

Take your first bit - relying on hindsight. That's nonsense, do you not read wrightys posts? He's been broadly right all along about it.

The rest of what you've written makes even less sense.

SA is quite far from analogous to UK/IOM though. Caution was a sensible approach.

It's early, wait for an hour or so.

It is not about Omnicron but the next and the next variant?

I'm more of an optomist than you might think but don't think we have it beaten yet.

Relax while we can, take advantage while we can but look out for a more virulent strain.

What is human biology completely different there?

The UK/IOM had already built up massively more resistance by way of vaccines compared to SA... People knew that, some just chose not to acknowledge it.

Median age in SA is 27. Median age in UK is 41. Probably higher in IOM.

We're never going 'beat it'. It's endemic now. The sooner we all accept that then the sooner we can all find a way forward.

It will have peaks and troughs just like the flu (spare me the 'oh but it's not the flu' talk).
