It only impacts because there is so much unnecessary paranoia about it. Social distancing is a pile of shit. Two metres has no real foundation other than it's better than hugging but not as good as ten metres. My response was in relation to this overly paranoid view about isolation and the whole household not isolating. He’s calling for the circuit break. Very interesting scientist on TalkRadio this morning explaining that only around 28 - 30% of the U.K. population is susceptible to catching the virus & the measures are WAAAAAY over the top. He can’t go against the labour stance on circuit break but he’s highlighting the pure absurdity of the lockdown policy though. You can’t expect people to just not work and not be compensated for it. No democratically elected government has that right. If Johnson expects people to not work and lose jobs he can get his hand in his pocket to bail them out properly. If he’s not going to do that then they’re going to go to work anyway as they need the money. The whole northern lockdown situation is pointless as compliance has to be bought as after 6 months of uncertainty many are now financially not in a position to be able to comply voluntarily. If someone goes around stinking of poo, given the choice, you'd be as far away as possible. But within reasonable constraints, being 2m away from the source of the smell is a lot better than being right up against it. The smell of said poo is partially from particulates hitting your olfactory system. Less poo = less smell. Same with COVID, less virus gets into you, the less chance it has of actually infecting you. There's a good article in the BMJ about it if you want to read the history of why we use 1-2m as a ballaprk figure for droplet spread.
