Very low risk stuff though.  Far too many paranoid people really.

You don't like much substantiation do you?

Why say lot words when few do trick?

I think the fact we have no social distancing is invaluable to a good chunk of places here. Take 'The Other Place' in Ramsey for example, they'd get about 3 tables in instead of about 15.

COVID spreading would impact that massively.

It only impacts because there is so much unnecessary paranoia about it.

Social distancing is a pile of shit.  Two metres has no real foundation other than  it's better than hugging but not as good as ten metres.

My response was in relation to this overly paranoid view about isolation and the whole household not isolating.  It's very low risk stuff.

As the tee shirts say we need to  “keep calm and carry on”, as the whole shitshow in the UK is just starting unravel. Pull up a seat and let’s see what happens there, as ultimately that is what is going to dictate our ongoing policy.

Agree Andy Burnham is now leading a big face-off on all this rubbish. Be interesting to see what happens.

Andy Burnham (great politician that he is) is not disputing that Covid problem, rather than trying to protect the citizens of the Greater Manchester region by grabbing more money of the Tory Government. He’s calling for the circuit break.

Very interesting scientist on TalkRadio this morning explaining that only around 28 - 30% of the U.K. population is susceptible to catching the virus & the measures are WAAAAAY over the top.

He can’t go against the labour stance on circuit break but he’s highlighting the pure absurdity of the lockdown policy though. You can’t expect people to just not work and not be compensated for it. No democratically elected government has that right. If Johnson expects people to not work and lose jobs he can get his hand in his pocket to bail them out properly. If he’s not going to do that then they’re going to go to work anyway as they need the money. The whole northern lockdown situation is pointless as compliance has to be bought as after 6 months of uncertainty many are now financially not in a position to be able to comply voluntarily. If they need to go to work they’ll go to work and fuck whatever Boris Johnson says.

Guernsey explaining a bit more about new rules from 26/10 , none of this whole household isolation rubbish. 7 days testing for Jersey & Southampton is good for them

https://guernseypress.com/top-stories/homepage/2020/10/16/facemasks-are-strongly-advised-for-those-in-enhanced-passive-follow-up/

Surprised Howie wasn’t asked how this impacts air bridges as Iom residents visit Guernsey and can mix with jersey visitors

This here.

It amazes me the amount of people I see calling for tighter restrictions to save lives but in the next breath are quite happy to see people being thrown on the scrapheap and that won't have an impact on them, as if money just magically grows on trees.

I see Lancashire has moved to tier 3. As far as I can see the only difference between Manchester and Liverpool and Lancs is that Manchester is led by one of the few effective politicians left.

So, we could put it in simpler terms.

If someone goes around stinking of poo, given the choice, you'd be as far away as possible. But within reasonable constraints, being 2m away from the source of the smell is a lot better than being right up against it. The smell of said poo is partially from particulates hitting your olfactory system. Less poo = less smell. Same with COVID, less virus gets into you, the less chance it has of actually infecting you.

There's a good article in the BMJ about it if you want to read the history of why we use 1-2m as a ballaprk figure for droplet spread. Of course, it was thought that COVID only spread through droplets initially, but there's lots of talk it's also airborne, hence ventilation etc. helping.

This is almost exactly what the 7 day test here was. Even the heavy suggestion of face mask is mirrored.
