I see the UK gov. is pushing the consequences of ,'long covid'. Wonder why?

People are starting to question the measures being implemented and asking is it proportionate so they need to come up with a new thing to scare people into following the rules.

I've never been comfortable with the whole protect the nhs. The nhs is there to protect us. We get sick we go to hospital. The decimation of the nhs for the past decade is coming home to roost.

If you read about how Singapore instilled its new economic model and broke down its residents and its workforce to be competitive (ie, work for nothing to increase corporate profits) you might just have stumbled on the UK post Brexit template and Covid at first glance very much seems to be a helpful tool in breaking down peoples wills and future expectations. Personally I’d prefer to see riots in the streets now from people who aren’t prepared to put up with this shit otherwise it’s only going one way. Everyone pushed out of a job and under the protective arm of the state who will look after them as compliant citizen with no other options.

That was Lord Sumption's argument, that and undue interference in cases civil liberties at the very outset.  But he has been poo, poo'd.

He is a poo-poo.

"Protect the NHS" is more slogan-y than "take measures to mitigate the number of concurrent hospitalizations so we don't run out of breathy-good-make-feel-nices"

Makes you wonder what’s really going on doesn’t it? Rather than the economy losing billions or trillions through lockdowns, why not spend a tenth of that increasing hospital capacity and let everyone who wants to carry on with their livelihoods?

Already been done with the Nightingale hospitals which are mothballed.

Interesting question from Clare Barber yesterday, caught Howie out after saying they followed Medical experts advice on borders!

The Chief Minister stated that Public Health were part of the group involved in developing the borders framework. Yet in an email that I received from the Director of Public Health relating specifically to Stage 4 of the borders plan, she stated that the Public Health Directorate was not asked to provide any assessment or advice to inform the decision regarding the borders plan.
Could the Chief Minister confirm just how involved Public Health have been and are in developing our pandemic plans?

he tried to bluster way out saying they are at all meetings etc but it’s basically bollocks

Can’t believe the press didn’t pick up on it ... stuck out like a sore thumb.

The Director of Public Health was initiating politicians are charting our course which is harrowing.

It won’t even be politicians it will be Cabinet Office who saw off Chris Thomas at the start of all this because he wanted all this stuff to be implemented properly with proper debate. When all they wanted was WW2 style powers and to chuck people in jail so the civil servants felt safe.
