Banker
1 hour ago, Roxanne said: This has been explained many times by Dr Glover. A person may be asymptomatic on arrival and test negative but may still be harbouring the virus. This gives a false sense of security and can result in that person going about their business and not developing symptoms for 5/7 days - during which time the virus has spread to others. But if they’re all isolating they won’t be going about business but could get spread in household. If they tested positive at least households would keep distance. lots of countries are testing on arrival including our colleagues in Channel Islands with Guernsey testing all key workers

However, they also have other personal restrictions, such as social distancing in force The problem with the whole household isolating is that after 14 days it is possible that family members may have caught it from the returning resident and may still be infectious. That is why Dr. Glover wants testing at 14 days prior to release into the community.

'NEGATIVE' on paper will make you feel much more like you're in the clear. Doesn't matter that Jimmy is incubating and about to pass it onto family, partner or children, who could quite happily incubate it well past those 14 days. If Jimmy becomes infectious around day ten, and infectees do the same, they've been at a week of normal business before something goes amiss. 1
quilp
Mrs Edge was a wee bit less confident about contact tracing and the responses from Quayle. A heated reply, apparently...
TheTeapot
She's not really wrong in anything she says there. I bet she'd also like to have said, when asked about HQ's tone, that its because she's a woman. 1

And here Moulton should have pressed him on the perception of the public and the confusion such statements produce. Ashford was basically allowed to waffle on without recourse. I often wonder if this imprecise narrative is deliberately confusing and open to excusable back-tracking should the Island find itself in the throes of a serious community outbreak? Correct. if anyone had been in the hospital atrium tea shop last week the topic of conversation overheard by more or less everyone in there in there was about how the transmission had occurred. That got out to the wider public. If it is not the truth then a quick denial should restore trust and confidence in the hospital and the CM. Simples!!
