Criminal Justice is a strange choreographed dance, between what actually happened, what the defendant discloses ( with or without advice ) and what is needed to get a conviction.

So, guy gets stopped with baggie with traces. Police arrest. Detained person admits its class B, personal use, that he knows class b is illegal, doesn’t say how much he paid or where he got it from. Police don’t pay for analysis. End of story.

Its exactly the same. If they’d found it the prosecution would have said. No need to look if they have an admission of the facts constituting the offence.

I wouldn’t rule out shit reporting though.

His missus must be absolute dynamite between the sheets to risk possible death across a treacherous freezing stretch of water for hours on end and then a 15 mile walk just to see her.

I hope he was wearing a tuxedo under that wetsuit, to arrive any other way after that journey would be criminal.

Of course, the other alternative is that he never left the island when he was supposed to.

That seems unlikely as the BBC Report says "The court heard his subsequent applications to return had been rejected", presumably on compassionate grounds.  You'd need to be off-Island to do that, because they need to know the details of your arrival.

If he'd been smart he would have tried to get a job offer (after all the fact he was allowed over as a 'key worker' ought to imply there is a shortage in his trade) or take out a tenancy.  But roofers aren't known for their caution and careful planning.

Don't forget a red rose in the lapel.

Yes, good point Roger, unless he was making the applications whilst still here.  I haven't looked at the process so I could be way off the mark, but there is something fishier than a Peel girl's chuff here.

But that wouldn't have been illegal. Why concoct an elaborate story involving jetskis and yomping over the mountain in a wetsuit if he was here all along and the truth would keep him out of jail.

Happy 5 Day Quarantine news for UK residents.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-test-to-release-for-international-travel#scheme-start-date

Effective today.

So, despite the hospitals in the UK at tipping point & the NHS staff on the edge, Chris Witty, Sir Patrick Valance & Jonathan Van Tam are trusting enough of their residents to take measures & be sensible whilst abroad. They (the experts) believe the risk of a 5 day negative test to be worth taking,

Howard Quayle & David Ashford don’t because they know best.
