Not a good situation at all. This doesn't seem to be the case as the latest figures are only showing the 32 deaths (half of them 'assumed') from the first wave. Otherwise it looks really grim with over 800 active cases and 30 being treated in hospital and 34 in care homes - there were only a couple a week ago. Over half the children are off school because of isolating. They started vaccinating in care homes on Sunday, but there may not be much protection from that till they get the booster shot in the New Year. The gov sm bod yesterday was explaining yesterday they have to wait for all the paperwork before it is officially logged after people were kicking off about the hospital stats showing -1. You can see it on their fb post yesterday if you can be arsed wading through the shite.

See screenshot re Gary Burgess, a Jersey and ITV reporter. Seems to be the best source of Jersey news Also reported 70 nursing staff infected or isolating and half of the ambulance service in the same situation They received two more batches of vaccines today. His tweet is here: though there was a later one that said Please note the death won’t appear in the government’s figures until it is formally registered, so there may be a lag of a day or days. Which explains it.

They could be picked up at Speke, in the taxi, in hospital or clinic or ward or transport in reverse.
Gladys
1 hour ago, Roger Mexico said: Indeed. According to the article: At 8am on Friday he set off on the treacherous journey across the Irish Sea. He had expected it to take 40 minutes. But due to bad weather it took him four and a half hours. A police source told iomtoday that the jet skier had just 10 minutes of fuel left in his tank when he arrived. I'm still calling bullshit on the walk though - someone must have given him a lift and he obviously didn't want to drop them in it. He had never driven (if that is the word) a jet ski, presumably did not have any navigational training but managed to turn up in Ramsey, rather than Ireland, Iceland or Canada. Phenomenal really. The Old Git
Don’t know what the weather was like that day, but you can often see Scotland from the Point of Ayre, so he might have just aimed for the island with no need to navigate. I’ve been on a Jetski for about half an hour on calm waters in the warmth of Tropical Australia. It’s enough. 9 times as long on the Irish Sea, for a beginner, in December - don’t believe it. 5

Well, having hit the Point of Ayre, would you know which way to go then? He's a roofer, not a bleedin' Inuit.
the stinking enigma
From talking to someone today the jetski part may be the only true bit in it. Its third or fourth hand info but apparently it was floating around the harbour near mezeron. Thats what attracted the authorities attention. the stinking enigma
Though i dont know any jetski that carries 4 and a half hours worth of fuel existed. 2

I will be keeping a sharp eye out for hot air balloons, hang gliders and parachutes driven by lovelorn swains. 1
