Why did Quayle leave it to 11 45 to tweet this news. Had to have known far sooner as we all know CS dont do out of hours etc

Tweeting at 23:45 on New Years Eve suggests one thing. They’re worried.

With them, for the first time ever, saying where the index case has been, is either a dramatic policy shift or reinforces their concern.

Also being reported by the local media on twitter.

Clearly a time of great concern despite the attempts to reassure

I would prefer them to say they're concerned !

I wholeheartedly agree. They should’ve been testing arrivals as soon as it was feasible. Which arguably was when on island testing was available.

Of course, if we had on-island genomics, it wouldn’t take DAYS to find out if this was the new strain.

@rachomics what’s the approximate false positive/negative rate on the tests they’re now liable to be using over here? My understanding is that Taxagenomics hold rights to a far more accurate test.

Nah squeeze all the bad news into 2020. 2021 is a new year to look forward to what happened prior doesn't count.

Merry new year

Precisely. CS thinking, all the way. New slate.
