These calls for 3 weeks lockdowns are just ridiculous without any evidence of community spread, we are now seeing regular new cases because we are actually testing arrivals The community spread evidence takes 2+ weeks to incubate, that's why you're not seeing it - yet. It will start to show in a week/ten day's time. If it is out there it will be multiplying right now because of the amount of mixing and socialising that's being permitted. There's only one way to stop that because we don't know who or where to test now. The genie has departed the bottle.

We can’t lockdown whole island every time a positive case appears in community just be sure there’s no spread, it’s just massive overkill on top of the fairy draconian entry restrictions we already have
NoTail
As a simple precaution tomorrow we will do a big shop, maybe a week supply. Stay away from Douglas and crowds. See how things develop.

At present nobody now knows who's got it or where. It could be being spread right now, there's pubs full of footy fans. Unfortunately science etc. is/has been playing second fiddle to politics and CS. Science yes. Logic no. At this stage (assuming we have all the info) the risk doesn't come close to justifying a lockdown and the implications of one. If we just lived based on science we would all live in sterile bubbles only eating a very set number of foods in exact quantities and doing fixed hours each day of mental stimulation, learning and physical excerise with a pred determined amount of emotional and physical interaction built in. That's not how the world works (yet)

The initial exposure was a week ago with the potential for a myriad subsequent transmissions. IF cases do start to arise it will take another week plus. Until then people could be blissfully spreading it further. Nobody knows because of the incubation timelag and the asymptomatic wildcard. So do we take the chance that everything will be ok or do we err on the side of caution? We have limited hospital facilities to cope with an outbreak.

Well if we get a lot of cases we can follow the roadmap for isolating etc as laid out in Government plan but we are a long way from any steps

There's sanitiser in almost every shop, take advantage of that etc. I was in Dreambird about a week ago, and they were actually collecting details for contact tracing. In light of what might've happened in 1886, it's not a bad idea at all.

Late responses, Wackamoles, ever expanding tiers. None of it has worked. We have the opportunity not to replicate that. A short local lockdown until things are proven one way or the other will be far less damaging than a local epidemic which might go on for months with hospital facilities overwhelmed, considering our demographic too. 3

horatiotheturd
Here is a question then (granted given the benefit of hindsight) When we went to level 4 borders was the risk/reward balance better to: A. Not test any arrivals but make them isolate for 14 days while refusing sponsored travel for friends and family. B. Make all returness or visitors do a test prior to departure, day 7 and day 13 (with further restrictions if positive) but allow local people to have their friends and family visit. In my opinion we have had the worst of both worlds. Draconian restrictions on allow friends and family to visit and no testing of returning residents etc.
