What are you? 12? There's not going to be a lockdown announced today, but I'm pretty sure they'll be announcing a few cases and some kind of small changes to the approach.

Edit - oh and as I posted the the announcement came through of 6 cases.

Social distancing to be reinstated would be my guess.

This is suggestive that it probably is the new strain which has a far longer incubation period, that in itself may be leading to the increased transmissibility.  The Uk probably haven't had the time to study the incubation period as what has occurred here in at least two cases.  Throws a curve ball potentially for quarantine and border issues.  This occurred with similar increasing number on IoW.  This is a bit of a pickle and clearly the the whole approach needs re thinking.  They missed a trick with not having the positive samples from xmas analysed on the island for the UK Strain.  To say it would not effect their approach is risible.

Interested if Banker still things a precautionary and mini lockdown would be overkill and unnecessary panic?

Has to be more sensibly locking down for a short time now when people are skint and not shopping or going out than in a few weeks when the cases will be spiralling needing a longer more damaging lockdown

Of course it bloody would, get a grip. At least 1/2 cases were from those isolating under old rules ie no tests, person 1 is infected then infects persons 2 say 7 days into isolation so they show symptoms later

You know that opportunity we had to quickly and safely roll out the vaccine while we were covid free and without having to slow things down with loads of additional precautions..........

Gone, because they weren't testing arrivals.

We could have happily had twice as many people coming in and with a proper testing regime the risk would have been lower than what they left us open to.

Absolute shambles that after everyone's sacrifices they have screwed it up.
