IOM Covid removing restrictions

So here is a question.

Given most of us don't actually know 100% if we have COVID or not, shouldn't we all be behaving as if we do until we can be certain?

Pretty sure the people who have tested positive recently were happily in shops buying groceries etc up until their tests.

I assume those here and on social media who NEED exercise and bread and milk would accept that they had to chage their behaviour on receipt of a positive test so why isn't the clear message from government to all behave as if we have it for 14 days and then see where we are.

Lower but not none existent.  There is a lack of case studies. However, there is an added factor with the cold still air. Like the air in a meat plant where the virus has run rampant on many an occasion. The issue is l, even though we are one year on, we simply don't know enough because there aren't enough studies into cold weather transmission of covid so why take the risk by not wearing a mask?

You're seriously not comparing the air in an enclosed meat plant to a walk on your own well away from other people.

It's like all semblance of common sense has gone out the window. You don't need a bloody case study to verify that a walk in the plantation with the dog, breathing in some welcome fresh air with no-one else in sight after being cooped up all day, is raising the risk of community transmission.

Aye, as with surviving longer on surfaces with a lower specific heat such as metal door handles, the lipid will not liquidate/melt so easily in cold temperatures and so protects its nastiness longer. But when it then lands at a nice 37°C or so the lipid is then happy to melt and the virus to do its work.

All these people shouting about mental health and obesity - we're being asked to lock down for three weeks, not three years or three decades.

And in normal times people complain that we don't socialise or interract anymore because we've got our heads buried in phones and devices.....now we've got the opportunity to do it freely for 3 weeks and it's suddenly a threat to sanity.

You couldn't make it up.

Buy a treadmill or exercise bike, or just suck it up for a couple of weeks.

God forbid any of these exercise addicts ever get ill and bed bound.

More people walked past here yesterday than a normal Sunday.

Or, if you believe anything that President Trump says:

Trump considers exercise a waste of energy, because he believes the body is "like a battery, with a finite amount of energy" which is depleted by exercise.

If we behaved as we all had it we would be stuck in bed coughing and shaking like a shitting dog.

Best to act as though everyone else has it surely.

Ah, that's part of the whole problem.

As a rule, with COVID, you start bucketing out virus whilst you feel fine, doing what you usually do, THEN you start feeling terrible whilst bucketing out virus.

Whereas with other bugs, you're most infectious when you don't want to get out of bed, coughing, shaking or feeling like death. Take the flu, norovirus or ebola, nobody wants to go near you when you're going violently from both ends, or bits of your insides are sloughing out.

However, if before you get symptoms, whilst shedding COVID, you feel just fine on a Friday night, you'll be out belting your heart out to dancing queen, aerosolising lots of nice virus for friends and family.

All this cold wet weather and slippery country out of the way paths and roads. Lots of stuff can happen. Lots and lots of possibilities.

I know how I can guarantee you don't slip and break a leg or whatever, or have a bit of a heart do, or crash your car off a slippery country road. Or .... or... whatever.....

Stay At Home. And suck it up.
