And even just a couple of days ago that the measures were an overreaction. The same people who had been arguing for months against border restrictions. It’s more than likely the same crowd who were getting pissed up in huge crowds on Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve without a care in the world, some people quite happily float along in complete ignorant bliss until something slaps them in the face like a wet fish. They were sold on the island being Covid free though, because that’s exactly what was being sold to them, there is no Covid risk if it doesn’t exist. Ham_N_Eggs
Having just taken a gander at Facebook I am amazed at how readily people gang up on anyone criticizing the Government. However it does seem to follow a pattern: someone pipes up with "they didn't come across well... They're not being clear... They seem confused by numbers" next thing a person with a locked down account and a random profile picture starts attacking then "how dare you... They are doing a wonderful job... They did so well in March... etc". Others spurred on by this follow suit. It's all a little odd.

There were many rumblings long before Christmas, I lost count the number of people who said they were worried about all these students coming back for Christmas, given that age group tends to be mostly asymptomatic and the new strain incubating for a much longer period. Not good , stay safe everyone . From what I can tell with the announcements, the current cases all seem to have come out of the issues on NYE in Ramsey. 1886 wasn't such an issue. The listed locations- Paparazzi early doors and the theatre for the panto, daytime Barbary Coast- screams a family out for the panto and a meal. So the risk of onward transmission is hopefully reduced. It's a shame exit testing wasn't brought in sooner, it would probably have stopped the Ramsey issue from happening. And it's not like professionals like Dr Glover said as much weeks beforehand. Edited January 11, 2021 by tetchtyke

germann
Lockdown properly. Compulsory masks. National speed limit. No driving to fanny about in a glen in spandex ffs. Mass testing. Lock the borders. Then we’re back to mid December by mid-end Feb if we’re really lucky. 3 2

Annoymouse
I’d support mass testing or mass vaccination, whatever is quickest. If we can protect the most vulnerable with a vaccine I think there will be a stage we just need to bite the bullet and get on with it.
