Manx Radio: Chance to change laws on selling former pubs without its licence

Allinson has found another vote winner. Fair enough.

My view is that the brewery covenants are unenforceable (and ridiculous and counter productive and..and...). Rather than change the law the Isle of Man Government would save a shed load of money and effort by paying for a legal case to test the existing laws and covenants. Changing laws can potentially unearth a lot more hassles.

No. But take Saddlestone in Douglas for instance.  I know someone who has a house there.  You cannot extend them without the written permission of the company that built them.  The builder put the covenant on.

We pulled out of a house purchase over here for much the same reason.

Your opinion about them being unenforceable is wrong.

Really. You know all about covenants, running with the land or otherwise.

OK.

Not been there for a while but was it still a place where you need to wipe your feet on the way out?

Don’t think so, you maybe thinking of the one in the square, nightlife? Not sure that’s still open, try to avoid Ramsey other than the golf course occasionally

It was one of the most popular, better patronised pubs in the town with live music and "sports bar" aspirations for the football and such. Did food during the day too but I'm not sure of recently.

It joins the Britannia, Central and Stanley as Public Houses with locked doors.

All we need is the Marina to revitalise the town though....
