Whose debt?

Depends who you ask. Most places will report it as the child's debt, but the parents will be the ones legally liable.

Either way, anyone holding up the States as some sort of example of successful capitalism is either mad or unintentionally proving that capitalism can't be successful for the majority.

It is another one of those statements intended as a trigger to imply that the nasty state is saddling children with debt, when the truth is it cannot be the child's debt, but the responsibility of the parents.  Since when have children been responsible for feeding, housing and clothing themselves?

I wouldn't hold up the states as a shining light in anything much really, and certainly not as an example for capitalism benefitting all.

Complete and otter cods wallop! The debt will never be paid. That is the point. The debt will be inflated out. Just like the last lot was inflated out. Thirty years ago, lager was a pound a pint. Houses cost 1/4 of what they cost now. Look forward thirty years, expect it to quadruple. Current debt will then be irrelevant.

Capitalism at its best.

It's OK folks, Tynwald are to discuss racism, so it'll end now.

Ah yes, but it's going to be a "thoughtful" debate presumably as compared to all those others that were not.

I suspect it means "Think about all those votes before you open your mouth" or similar...

That's not a Marxist principal

HeliX, they are proud of being trained Marxists, they boast about it. They use methods of control over their supporters as used by Marxist regimes such as answering any dissent with angry outbursts intended to belittle their opponents. There is no discussion, just an endless diatribe of demands. They are doing Black people an injustice.

Those aren't Marxist principles though. Also there's no such thing as a "trained Marxist" no matter what they fancy claiming.

Strange organisational leadership then?

They may not be principles of Karl Marx per se, but they are tactics employed by Marxist regimes.

And plenty of other regimes, on both ends of the economic spectrum.

I just take exception to the fact that "Marxist" is being used as "thing I don't like" by every right wing news outlet at the moment. It's stupid.

It seems that the leadership brought the Marxist label upon themselves though HeliX, they told the world that they were all 'trained Marxists' so it's to be expected that people will look for the links.

Yeah they're stupid for claiming it when most of their desires have naff all to do with Marxism too. But it's not just this I'm referring to really, Marxism is the boogeyman of the moment, apparently.
