The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is holding the pipping ceremony following the passing out parade for its batch of 2020 today in Dehradun. It is the first time the pipping ceremony- in which the parents and family members of the gentlemen cadets formally pin rank badges on their uniforms marking their transition from cadet to officer- is being held without the GCs' families. IMA authorities said the decision was taken in the wake of coronavirus pandemic and that this time, the pipping will be done by instructors and officers.
