There is mains power on the ship. Sorry to say it is a logistical issue. The vaccine will be transported in dry ice boxes not in cold-chain sea containers (not initially at least) and the bulk of it will be air freighted in order to keep them viable on arrival. All of the major integrators (DHL, FEDEX etc) have been busy creating cold-chain farms around the world for storing them whilst they wait on governments to call off stocks. ETA: then there's the issue of whether there are enough syringes to go around to administer the vaccine. Albert Tatlock
IMO...prior to the completion of the bulk of the roll out here - 'not vaccinated' should mean 'no entry' for visitors to the island. 2

What type of refrigerated units are there that can store the vaccine and what form of transport would be used. What is different to transporting it to the Isle of Man than anywhere else in the UK? That should keep some of the anti-vax/flat earth/5G/tin foil hat brigade out at least. 1

By the time the NHS is covered it is bound for care home staff and residents. The Isle of Man has no need for the vaccine in a hurry as the borders are closed and with a small population it is easy to account for people isolating. The next company to come on line with a vaccine that should be easily stored would head for the islands. The biggest problem I think is the uptake in the uk, only about 50% at present. Not enough to reduce the virus well enough but enough to cause problems for IOM, Guernsey, unless the borders remain closed. I don’t think that is sustainable. Info on vaccine from Sky News this morning re first phase roll out, Lol. No need for a vaccine. Right oh.

So do you agree that IOM residents who are vaccinated should have free & unrestricted travel to& from island with no quarantine?

Totally agree, but where has the UK stated how it will transport the vaccine When this subject was broached by BBC this morning, the question went unanswered. How many refrigrated vehicle units can do -70 degrees.

Why, surely if everyone, or at least, most people on the island have the vaccination then it'll not matter at all if people coming to the island are vaccinated or not?

piebaps
Keep them shut! Anyone not liking it has the pre-lunch maritime transport option. 1
Beelzebub3
We will have the vaccine at the first opportunity, if it means we can return to a near normal life including travel as we have family across and would like to see our grandson before he goes to school, he is 18 months old so hopefully this will be done on a slick basis although something tells me I am being a tad optimistic.
