Where do home carers come on the list, ie those caring for relatives in their own home? Asking for a neighbour because they haven't yet received a letter. Asking for a neighbour because they haven't yet received a letter. The letter was to DHSC all staff, by email. Priority 1 is if you work in a care home, Priority 2 is if you are a health and care worker. There was a further list of those who should initially register - care home and/or vulnerable people’s homes, ward 1, ITU, CCU, ED, Mental health inpatient staff, Hospital Porters, Air Ambulance staff, Anaesthetists, Surgeons. So if your neighbour is a DHSC employee he/she should register via 111. Don’t know the situation for those caring for relatives not through the DHSC. Suggest checking www.covid19.gov.im AFAIK the lady is a registered (for benefit purposes, attendance allowance??)) with DHSC. From a conversation with her a couple of days back I got the impression that she was expecting a letter as her mother gets regular health visits from a nurse. I'll suggest she asks the nurse to follow it up.
piebaps
It'll be a while Andy. @ 975 shots per week and the double dose every third week, it'll take a while to work through the DHSC staff complement.

There will hopefully be more than one vaccine available soon and that rate can increase. on the subject of timescales - I may have it wrong and stand to be corrected - but - the UK have said they should be able to get through the priority list by Easter, yet IOMG are saying September. Are we talking about the same priority list here?

After all we can't be having all of the vulnerable locals who may get ill because 1000s of virus carrying bikers turn up in June, being protected by then, can we! 😜
snowman
Does the IOM plan to vaccinate everyone or just those outlined by the JCVI ? With the current vaccine and limitations on ordering 1 tray per week, that's just around 1,800 people per month being jabbed. It's going to take a long time at that rate to get round people. However, according to the newspaper which is one of those being briefed by government the Oxford AZ vaccine is going to be approved soon. This raises the prospect of the UK, according to the article, vaccinating the entire population by the summer. So, will this mean all of the IOM population gets vaccinated if people choose to receive the jab ? No. There are some conditions where the vaccination would be unwise. There are reports albeit of reactions and short acting side effects but very, very small in number. I am happy to wait as long as possible.
Banker
Anyone hear if we’re starting vaccinations next week or is Ashie still reading the indemnity? Not sure what will happen if he doesn’t like indemnity as I’m sure UK won’t give a toss!!

Banker
Also still unsure why we will take to September to vaccinate over 50s when most major European countries are looking to have majority of population done by summer.the below is from main Spanish news paper It is expected that 60% of Spain’s population of 47 million will be vaccinated by August
Andy Onchan
Unless someone else has mentioned it further up the thread I was told earlier today that the vaccine program for IOM will start January 4th 2021.
