A local lass who had COVID died of a heart attack which was the result of blood clots. Apparently having COVID increases blood clotting.

I would also add that she was morbidly obese.

To our learned medical friends here:

Would morbidly obese be categorised as a serious underlying medical condition?

In my mind, yes - without doubt.

They were used this past year to report on...

They were also commissioned by CM Bell in 2013 to report on management and governance structure at Nobles.  https://www.gov.im/news/2014/feb/14/changes-will-strengthen-management-and-governance-structure-at-nobles-hospital/

So they've been around for a while now.

Probably wasn’t worth going through a procurement process to secure the project given their familiarity with IOM Government.

If you're obese...you're one big clot already in my book.

Yep, you've certainly invited a massive chunk of risk into your life if you've 'let yourself go' a bit. This is another reason why shared data sets are so important to the general public.

Age bands of those that have died from Covid?

Any underlying health conditions?

Had the deceased been vaccinated?

Fear can be quelled almost instantly within the population at large with a few simple numbers. It's like they want to keep it a mystery for some mad reason.

Why would that be? Would it be too hard? Is nobody here interested in that type of information or is the Steam Packet witch hunt still du rigueur?

If you're a big fat flump then it is fairly obvious you're at more risk than many people.  Isn't a BMI of over 40 meant to be a base indicator for this (not that I'm hugely hung up on BMI as a method of gauging someone's fitness).

Hopefully policy won't be dictated by people who couldn't keep their mittens out of the cookie jar.

Here's a good rundown of the causes of blood clots:

https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/blood-clots/basics/causes/sym-20050850

They've known for a while that covid causes blood problems. Here's the most recent article I found about it:

https://news.northeastern.edu/2021/02/08/covid-19-can-affect-the-blood-its-spike-protein-may-be-the-culprit/

Here's a BBC Inside Health programme on blood clots that covers a fair bit including but not limited to covid, if you've got a half hour to spare.

I’m having Oxford there on Wednesday. Did I mention it is also my birthday?

You didn't. Perhaps HQ will be there dressed as Marilyn Monroe to give you your jab while singing Happy Birthday Ms Roxy in a husky voice.

Shame our lot haven't thought to add more tools to our box. Knobs!

Yes they’ve done 70k c double our testing & were doing upto 2000 a day during last outbreak which included workplace testing.

As I mentioned earlier they are adding an on Island genomics testing facility as they consider important to establish the variants quickly!
