Easy.

Smoking...people didn't want people in pubs to emit nasty chemicals that kill them.

Covid...people don't want people in pubs to emit nasty viruses that kill them.

Level playing field...so all pubs have choice taken away from them.

So a perfect analogy.

You're delusional if you think a national ban will arise on being inside a public space without a vaccination.

I can see it coming in for around the first 6 months of trying to get back to 'normality'.

Boris is taking it seriously.

Boris is an idiot making soundbites.to pacify the nutters.  Imagine telling retail shops "oh yeh, you can open again. Just not allowed anyone in unless they're vaccinated" .  Immediately taking families out of the high street.

Better 6 months of that than another 2 years of lockdowns and numerous uncontrollable variants arising.

Or it's just better we accept it's always going to be around. Like other viral conditions. Accept some people will die. Like they do every year.   Tailor your lifestyle accordingly.

Are you one of those anti-vaccine types?

Just asking.

There won't ever be a position where someone can litigate a pub or shop etc because they think the caught a virus there. I can't see how any public liability insurance issue would present itself?

But the problem might well arise with certification.  Someone might well claim that they caught Covid in a place that demanded certificates and so led led to a reasonable expectation that such a thing would not happen.

Not sure I see the relevance. The vaccine doesn't prevent you catching the virus and while there are signs that it may reduce transmission they're as yet unquantified. How would you know whether you caught it from a vaccinated person or an unvaccinated person?

Again, exactly! This virus is here to stay. Like Spanish flu, AIDS, and all the rest. We live with them. Last year's lockdowns I felt at the time were an over reaction. However, nobody really knew what we were dealing with, or how to deal with it. That situation has completely changed now. The problem is that we have to exit this situation in a well controlled, managed way.

You can look back and criticise as much as you want. Hindsight is amazing. It is 2020 vision. :-)

The Times is reporting that the UK will start to offer vaccines to Ireland. Smart move politically, but more importantly from a Public Health perspective

Is that the same Ireland that just 2 weeks ago halted the roll out due to even a tiny sniff of a problem with the AZ vaccine.

Maybe they will follow Macron's lead and offer it to people over 55 but under 65!
