But 1.7 million in UK terms is only equivalent to a bit over 2000 in Manx ones - the number that they were able to reschedule (admittedly just by venue).  There's already considerable pressure on 111 for handling testing etc - imagine what would happen if you then ask 48% of the Manx adult population to ring them up and negotiate a new appointment.  Even if you did it automatically and people only contacted you if it didn't suit, there would be thousands and probably a lot of no-shows.

I'm not saying that this has been handled as well as it could be, but the current situation is the result of past decisions that can't be reversed and some of which were actually called for by those now complaining about the consequences.

The tiresome UK and Channel island comparisons matter not one bit.

Can you remember back to school? You are running in a cross country and suddenly you realise there is no one ahead, no one behind, no one cheering you on. You are off the route. Everyone else has gone a different way. You crack on anyway hoping everyone else is wrong and you are right.

It's not usually a good sign for your prospects in the race.

It usually means you are the thick and stupid one. The longer you wait to backtrack...the worse it gets.

Doesn't matter who you compare yourself to. The UK and the CIs have the same number of shots per capita. You would be really dumb if you didn't compare.

A fair comparison. We only need to bring forward about 1000 to gain 2 weeks for the O50's. So we only would have half the issue the UK had.

Paying for it? That seems a bit dramatic.

Does it? If we had stuck to the manufacturers plan, everyone over 50 would have had two jabs by now. Most over 40's and some over 30's would have had their first. We would almost certainly  have open/ test free borders right now. Hotels open. Tourists. Free for us to travel.

I still blame Blair. It was his influence that brought this issue on us. The UK realised the problem about six weeks ago and suddenly started getting second jabs in. Meanwhile, we take a two week break!

More good news on vaccinations protection once you’ve had both doses

On the Indian variant, Mr Hancock said: "As of 3 June our data show that of the 12,383 cases of the Delta variant, 464 went on to present at emergency care and 126 people were admitted to hospital.

"Of these 126 people, 83 were unvaccinated, 28 had received one dose and just three had received both doses of the vaccine."

U.K. minister on tv earlier saying they are considering vaccinations certification for major sporting & music events to get larger capacity in. This may encourage some of younger population to come forward for vaccinations, sounds like certification or passports will be required for travel going forward
