Vaccine- who will have it?

I think the clincher to establishing a wider tolerance & reduction of the spread will be the roll-out of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. There's no requirement a convoluted logistics process that the Pfizer vaccine demands.

Journos should be asking the question as to what proportion of the Oxford vaccine will the Island get (and when) once it's been given approval (given the fact that the UK government has ordered 100 million of these).

Which vaccine (if any) is more effective against the new strain? And can someone who’s had the Pfizer vaccine also have the Oxford one at a later date if that proves to be more effective?

Who is to say that whatever was in their vials was actually the vaccine? I need a little more proof than this before rolling my sleeve up.

Could have been Okells bitter. That would kill it stone dead. We could milk global fame on that, eat your heart out Pfizer and Oxford.

Having just read the reported infection rates and mortalities in the UK (true or not I don't know) WTF we are waiting for to start vaccinating the most vulnerable is beyond me ? This government are incapable of prioritising anything before they have wet the bed a dozen times and the horse has bolted !

Record infection rate yesterday of 36,000+, reportedly arising from the new variant's transmissibility. Covid connected death rate up too, now over 67,000 in total. Sobering to think that that figure will more than likely soon exceed the IoM's entire population.

First two weeks vaccination program in UK done 500K with 1 shot, and have 12M over 65, and so at this rate take 2 years just to get over 65 vaccination completed with 2 shots. So it more 'how can you get it?, rather than 'who would have it?' We really need Oxford vaccine signed off to get more sensible numbers. With flu jab do 15m jabs a year, I assume over 3 months, so if we can double that effort 2 x 15m, can get the sort of numbers I was hoping for.

World renowned vaccine specialist Tony Blair has weighed in, saying lets ignore the way the specialist pharmaceutical companies have carefully designed their magical medicine and just one smack everyone.

Remember the time when he ignored the expert Hans Blix? That went well.

Just registered to have mine - I'm priority 2 as a health worker.  Will report back once it's done.

Update - appointments for 4th and 25th January.  So I'll be in the first batch on Island.  I may not have the gravitas of David Attenborough, or be as influential as a premiership footballer, but for what it's worth I don't think there's anything to be scared of, it's safe and it works, so if offered go for it.
