Vaccine- who will have it?

The way they are building these facilities puzzles me. DOI/ IOM gov are known for their "That will do attitude"

The only reason I can think is what I have said before. They don't want the vaccine in the whole population before the election as it would mean, unpopular to the Karen types, decisions being made about opening the borders fully and then just living with Covid.

Once we are all vaccinated the world will have to go back to normal and we will have to live with Covid in the community and accepting that there will be a death toll every year much like Flu.

How do they square that with their eradication policy?

Here's the thing.

As soon as it was announced the vaccine was coming on line we had numerous statements from government saying they were going to spend the time preparing for its arrival.

We heard a lot about fridges, but we heard nothing about indemnity paperwork, we heard nothing about how they were going to manage the huge effort to get people vaccinated, we heard nothing about where it would happen and what would be needed to action the effort.

What we did hear was repeated claims that the time spent in between the announcement of the roll-out of the vaccine, would be spent in preparation so that as soon as it arrived we would be ready to roll it out.

So what the actual fuck have they been doing instead?  Why is it only now that paperwork is being sorted, why is it only now that premises are being converted. Why have we wasted coming up for four weeks now, since the first doses arrived before we were ready to roll?

And we're still not ready to roll in any particular haste.

FFS.

To be fair Rox, they probably didn't get the paperwork much in advance of deliveries, and it does have to be looked at, even if it would be take it or leave it, but we had to know what we were or were not on the hook for.

However, not having attended to the practical issues  such as locations, identifying the various groups to be vaccinated, even if not deciding on which groups would have priority, prepping letters, tracking systems and training non-medicsl support staff could all have been underway ages ago.

A prime example is the letters sent out to tell people to shield.

In the first lockdown they came through weeks after the UK had sent them.

This lockdown's letter came on Friday dated the 13th Jan.

These letters should have been printed, enveloped and franked ready to go out in the event of a second lockdown and posted the afternoon that it was announced. Yet again a lack of planning..........................

Further to a suggestion on this thread, I am surprised the Villa Marina wasn't used. There may be a good reason why it wasn't but it seems to tick all the boxes.

The Promenade Suite (downstairs) has separate Entry and Exit points and queue inside or under the colonnade.

The Colonnade Suite also has good separate Entry and Exit points:

Building owned by Government

Very little work required to adjust, partitioning available

Car Parking available, grassed area could be used if necessary
