Wonder how he gets those figures when I thought people had the option of paying £50 per test at the moment?

They'll have to recoup the costs of Dr. Glover's payout from somewhere... 😂

Howie may be saying no need for a cert to say you have had the jabs to gain entry to the island but how can the TT ever go again if the visitors don't have a cert?

The age and close living in tents could see Nobles ICU full in no time, never mind bits missing  off bikers, Covid could fill it up.

Same with any "mass" event they hope to bring people over for.

Alf C. suggesting that it would cost the Govt £420k a month to test locals returning to the Island after travel (MR News).

Which might also suggest that they're reluctant to pay it? Meaning that it might just start getting a bit more expensive to come and go eventually?

What would be he point of a test though unless you had to isolate like at present when you came back to the island?

Do they think we will have to do isolation in the long term?

That would end the tourist economy and cause a mass exodus of residents.

Welcome to the "new normal"?

It's just as well we're spending all this money on our heritage etc. attractions, if we're going to have to keep our captive residents (or at least those who will no longer be able to afford to come and go), entertained on their staycations.

Skelly and DfE will be creaming themselves at the thought of all these captive tourists and their spend. With Eddie Teare's ££ Multiplier Effect in full swing we could all end up as billionaires.

Then again, maybe Alf's figures are based on Skelly's visitor figures. 😂

Once all are vaccinated, why would we need to isolate? If you somehow did bring it back, who are you going to pass it on to?

That explains a lot.

Actually it doesn’t. Testing was only introduced 00.01 on 23/12 and was only days 1 or 2 and 14. Most people had arrived back on island before then.

Are you assuming that recovery from, or vaccination against covid, provides life-long immunity? I don't know myself for sure. If it means a yearly vaccination then it's likely someone will be missed.

Think Howie said when asked Monday it was something like 600 she far this month with c160 patient transfer , some will be key workers who presumably don’t pay so figures don’t seem to add up to £420k, Alf has probably picked busiest month last year

I'll explain.  It was stated by the government that the gold standard (14 days) was 99% risk free.

Therefore by simple maths if there were 700 returnees that isolated to the gold standard. 7 would pass through. That would explain why we had infections that the isolation regime in December failed to protect us from.

My conclusion. 700 was too many returnees and that is why we have a lockdown.
