You know that position is reserved for HM The Sole, now that Bill Shimmins has given up.

Ok, fair enough - I’ll accept Fowler as Policy and Reform Minister.

Historically, things don’t gear up until relatively late in the day; a surprising number of candidates declare at an advanced stage. But having said that, things do seem terribly flat. The bulk last time were declaring in May - nearly July now. However, I still think there are a few to come out of the woodwork yet...and Tynwald is yet to dissolve. The next few weeks with the borders 'open' will be interesting...could make electioneering difficult if we start getting hit with quite a few more cases (serious or not). Whatever people say, there will still be a lot of vulnerable people around who can't get jabbed who will be very wary - or people just wary generally - especially older people. That might even discourage some e.g. in their 60s from even standing. Interesting times.
pongo
There's a quite a few of them who are basically only interested in two terms and a pension. In many cases it's more money than they could ever hope to realistically earn outside of politics.

Lot of boomer men looking to top up their pensions after middling careers in business or the media.

Well based upon the UK counterparts in Johnson’s pirate band there aren’t any.

TheTeapot
Cheers Declan, I'll have a look later, see if I can get my head around how it is possible for a candidate to set up a political pressure group, get some mysterious funding and employ themselves, but retain just enough deniability to not be being paid to be a candidate and how that is somehow OK.
