It’s definitely not bollocks, air quality is more than just vehicle emissions, log burners/open fires and oil boilers are all sources of particulate matter and we have more than our fair share here. Quite a few companies burn their rubbish (including plastic) on bonfires, that’s a massive fine if caught on its own in the UK. As for actual vehicle emissions any vehicle with a DPF fitted shouldn’t emit any black smoke whatsoever, it’s an instant MOT fail (unless you know a friendly tester of course.....) I’d wager the vast majority of bikes over the next two weeks will have a decat fitted too. Toxicity wise, you don’t have to smell particulate matter for it to be dangerous, its the stuff you can’t see that does the most damage.
