Its actually a shame the council don’t have something similar up there for the whole summer to be used as needed.  It would be great for football, F1. Live music or even just to chill in the sun with food and drink

TT would be great if you had the 1886 stage, the Nunnery, Nobles, Villa Gardens and Hall, the Bottleneck all with bands, pay £200 for the fortnight get a wristband. And no bikes. Pre-TT in Castletown Square, Compton Vaults, the Pubs, the Pizza Place, Poulson Park.

Or do it again in July but without the bikes.

Although I don't know where you used to wait for Mick Grant. Could have been anywhere.

Well it was the gate to what would be called the backstage area if it was a festival. Where the oily men fiddle with big ends and carborettas.

You make a very good point. Didn't the Gov try leaving the place set up and the Corpy kicked off about it? Not unreasonably I have to say, but they kicked off.

Nobles Park is a fabulous area and very much underused outside of TT/MGP. The bandstand was taken from the Villa Marina (when the Gov took the Villa Marina over) and moved up there and is rarely used. (It should have remained in Villa Gardens as a Douglas Borough enclave)

Drivers being fit for the road is more appropriate, whoever it was needs to hand their driving licence back immediately. Grove Mount in Ramsey is another one, you see idiots turning into the one way, that’s despite no entry signage, a solid stop line covering both sides of the junction and all the other cars facing the other way, which should give a big enough clue.

Dukes Road has also been catching people out, that’s slightly more understandable as some cars were still parked facing the wrong way when it was changed, they normally have two massive stop signs at floor level too but they haven’t this year.

another one is the one way from kingswood grove down into st barnabus in douglas ,  some kingswood staff seem to think they can just nip up that hill when ever they like and the one way doesn't apply to them.

So will he be getting paid for the radio commentary? Surely not.

Why not. Surely anyone can manage their time and juggle 2 jobs. In my time I’ve had 3 at the same time and managed to juggle them all effectively. Outside the HOKs, Tynwald and department meetings they can manage their time and workload however they want. This is a silly comment.

Rubbish.  They are using someone who has loads of TT experience and why shouldn’t they?

It’s probably not a bad idea for Tim to keep his hand in anyway 😂

To keep the cost to GMP down.

Fair point on Tim needing to keep the experience up though...

MHK isn’t a full time job, most of them have other bits on the go.

re Nobkes park and the fan zone it is a really pleasant and enjoyable setup.

Food, Drink, stage, big screens and loads of parking.

MHK isn’t a full time job ……………….. then perhaps the salary should reflect that.

Why is it some of the old school MHKs who were in a department, worked full time hours attending meetings and doing other tasks. We mocked some MHKs who would attend loads of the trade conferences like egaming, manning the IOM stand, the shipping and yacht shows, and the Cannes Film Festival, which the island had a role in. Are there any other old school MHK prepared to put the hours in, attend off island conferences and genuinely get their own contacts or drum up business for the island? Attendance at Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conferences do not count either!

If a current MHK with an interest in motorcycle road racing, if they were to prove their worth (use their position for the good of the island)and had a contact book with connections involved in the sport, perhaps they could help to drum up sponsorship and potential advertisers for the TT?
