Sent to try us. It's not really that. Ironically it would probably be easier to set up a TT Zero for cars. There are already pretty established Electric Car races, so they've got the teams, competiveness, technology, logistics etc. Not so for bikes.

Sent to try us. It's very difficult to have a race without competitors, no matter what power they may use. E bikes and cars are a bit of a bad dream at the moment, until they can make them practical, safe and actually as carbon neutral as they pretend to be. 2

pongo
The TT should have been been reinvented as a technology event. Interest in bike racing is dying off. 1

Speed is a pretty daft objective in many ways. The tortoise and the hare pretty much addresses this point. The tortoise is the cool guy in that story. Efficiency, reliability under all conditions, style and range - these things are a much more useful measure of a company's products.

Agreed, but it is testing in racing conditions which gives us efficiency, reliability, range and even style.

It's not though in reality. Certainly not any longer. Racing is today, at best, a form of brand advertising. Bike racing is no longer a showcase for products which are sold in any significant numbers. That's why there is little money in it. And young people are not into bikes how they once were. A lot of today's engine and transmission technology which contributes to the efficiency, reliability and, believe it or not, low emissions of today's cars and motorcycles come from racing. The modern vehicle is a different animal to what it was even ten years ago. Yes, motorcycling is on the wane amongst youngsters, they get their kicks in other ways, mainly playing computer games these days. Cars are generally seen as transport rather than sporting vehicles too. It doesn't mean that people don't want to watch racing, they just don't want to do it!
slinkydevil
Legalise these, anyone can enter. Furthest wins. That's my 2023 TT consultation over. £50,000 invoice in the post to Teddy Callister.

The modern ICU produces the same amount of CO2 as the old ICU engines. It's the way they work. In fact as they have got better the proportion of CO2 has increased, replacing other nasty pollutants which is good. Its basic chemistry I am afraid. In very simple terms at its purest CH2 + 3O = CO2+H2O Catalytic converters do nothing to CO2 and all ICU vehicles are CO2 polluters.
Nom de plume
When are they calling time on this charade? I’d have thought the latest PCR travel nonsense is the final nail in the coffin.
